Google Extremely Pro Wind and Beyond Biased

Google said it has signed a 10-year deal to buy renewable energy from three new wind farms that are being built in Finland and which will power one of its data centers.

“In a growing number of locations, the cost of new renewable energy is competitive with the cost of power from the grid,” Marc Oman, Google’s head of EU energy, said in a blog.

The combined capacity of the three farms will be 190 megawatts (MW) and will be built by renewable energy developers Neoen of France and…

Christoper C. Horner: Government for Rent

And the biggest issue of all is, does this represent government for hire?

This paper details how this activist donor network provides off-the-books staff members and consultants for governors, both ad hoc for this Summit and as a going concern, while using middlemen nonprofit organizations to administer the funding—to work for and promote politicians who in…

Kids at Clinton Lions Agricultural Fair Taught About Wind Power

To demonstrate how wind power is converted to electricity, he had Jocelyn Clark, 8, of Clinton, Alice McCaslin, 4, of Sidney and Donovan Saint Martin, 5, of Waterville, hold miniature blue and green wind turbines and asked them to blow on the blades. He then helped by aiming a leaf blower on the turbines, causing them to whir quickly.…

News of wind turbine explosion not picked up by media

One Sheldon resident told me directly that he and his wife heard loud “Boom, boom, boom’s”, as they watched TV, mistakenly thinking they were distant fireworks. It turned out to be a single IWT located west of North French Road, south of 20A, off in a farmer’s field. A second Sheldon resident confirmed that the noise sounded like something breaking apart for about two hours’ duration. Each turbine has a high-voltage transformer at its base and a generator with a gearbox in the nacelle at the…

Zap! Unlucky wind turbine hit by storm, finished off by lightning

Don Henderson drives around taking photographs of Iowa, but this was a first, what he called “a very unlucky windmill” smoldering in the distance on Sunday.

He said a wind turbine four miles south of Zearing off U.S. Highway 65 was damaged by the tornadoes that ripped through Iowa earlier this summer, leaving one blade dangling. Then, lightning struck it during the storms this weekend.

He was there Sunday to capture the images of the smoking turbine, and thousands of people…

It's Labor Day Weakened

The wind industry exists for only one reason: the game has been rigged on its behalf. Unfortunately, such rigging is rampant throughout America. Very simply, we've devolved into two types of Americans - insiders and outsiders, with most of us being the latter and most of the wealth going to the former. It's one thing if you earn it but quite another when you steal it. Paying off the government to pass legislation that will make you incredibly rich at the expense of honest hardworking…

SYNAPSE-ENERGY STUDY OF SOLAR SAVINGS COMMISSIONED BY SUNCOMMON OF VERMONT

SunCommon of Vermont commissioned Synapse-Energy to perform a study that would show the benefits of before-the-meter (BTM) solar. The study shows there were almost $20 million of benefits for all of New England, about $1.3 million for Vermont during the very sunny period of July 1 to July 7; that period had very little wind, and thus almost no wind generation.

That joyous news was released with much fanfare, plus admonitions from SunCommon not to reduce solar…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
