Mills says oil and gas drilling off of Maine would jeopardize tourism (BDN)

Meanwhile, for over 10 years industrial wind turbines, now near 600' tall, have been proliferating throughout inland Maine with virtually no regard to tourism and property values. It seems there is a two tiered system - one for folks living on the Maine coast and another for those living in interior Maine. Remember also, Sen. Susan Collins cheered offshore wind because it would be "over the horizon and out of view". But inland, the politicians define setbacks in mere hundreds of…

Press Herald Just Can't Not Publish Pro-Wind Propaganda

Excerpted from the newspaper's "Climate is top concern in CMP powerline case":

Creating a pathway for Canadian hydropower into northern New England is not all Maine should be doing to reduce its carbon footprint. It will still be important to increase the use of electricity for space heating and transportation, while generating more power from renewable sources, like solar and wind, both onshore and offshore.…

Report: Massachusetts has the 8th highest utility rates in the country

All six New England utility companies made their top ten list.

In Massachusetts, the average cost for utilities every month is $469.13.

According to the New England Ratepayers Association, right now there's little consumers can do.

“As a consumer, the best thing to do is to use as little electricity as possible," said Marc Brown, president of the New England Ratepayers Association.

The problem he says is how electricity is produced here. Half is made using natural…

The Green New Deal Is a Trojan Horse for Socialism

The title of this tells it all. There is a new system afoot and it is the most scary future we face as Americans. Our education system has failed us and our progeny has been indoctrinated into the ranks of socialism and elite control of our lives. They have no concept of what real science is and have been brainwashed by the system and the complicit media. …

T. Boone Picken’s Little Green Deal (remembering a stillborn crony scheme)

A decade ago, a rent-seeking, vainglorious Texas oil man named T. Boone Pickens spent tens of millions of dollars to promote what today might be called the Little Green Deal.

There are many lessons to be learned from T. Boone’s ill-fated, expensive, distracting venture. Here are several:

  • Industry cronyism, from Ken Lay to T. Boone to James E. Rogers, gave the…

The Big Money Behind Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal

The Green New Deal blueprint introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was crafted by three far-left organizations and is being pushed by a coalition of well-funded professional progressive groups and known leftist agitators.

Some of the organizations helping to promote the Green New Deal have ties to financing from billionaire George Soros and trace their roots to such radical groups as Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter.

The Green New Deal was crafted by…

The Times, They Are A-Changing

Can there be solar and batteries providing grid power for some, while natural gas, hydro and biomass provide power for others ?

The quick answer is yes and it involves the latest "outside the box" creation  of the green energy crowd : microgrids.
A microgrid is basically a " community island " of standby electric power, ideally consisting of one or more of the renewable energy resources. The phrase "Distributed Energy Resources" is used…

Yale Climate Connections: The Northeast is back

Crony capitalism hopes to get a boost here in Maine.

Perhaps someone needs to tell Jeremy Payne that on February 1, the U.S. Department of Energy issued a condemnation of the current approaches to floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) and a decision to proceed by researching radically different design concepts. The DOE advised that  "the current state of the art for FOWT is too massive and expensive for practical deployment", also saying "Floating Offshore Wind Turbines…

Massachusetts Land Based Wind Turbine Corruption Set To Spread To Maine

Land-Based Wind Turbine Installations Have Ground To A Halt In Massachusetts Over Noise Shadow Flicker

Massachusetts state agencies set sights on Maine to make wind turbine agenda of 2000 megawatts of wind turbine power by the year 2020

“It is abundantly clear that [NECEC] has been proposed solely to meet a Massachusetts policy goal; it has nothing to do with meeting the needs of Maine ratepayers, and the primary…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
