An expedition designed to gather evidence of global warming and “climate change” in the Arctic was canceled last month after a humiliating discovery was made: There was so much ice in the Arctic that the icebreaker it was going to use was needed elsewhere.
How positively ironic. The trip had been planned just…

World Electricity Sector
Worldwide investments in electricity generating plants and grid systems were about $10 trillion, of which about $6.52 trillion for electricity generating plants and about $3.46 trillion for grid system upgrades during the 2000 - 2016 period.
Worldwide investments in renewables electricity generating plants were about $4.2 trillion, of which about $3 trillion for electricity generating plants (wind, solar, hydro, bio, etc.) and…

St. Clair, whose family donated more than 87,000 acres of northern Maine land that was designated a national monument a year ago, said he and others reached out to the International Dark-Sky Association, which works toward protecting places where traditional dark skies still exist. The group also certifies (after a two-year process) sites that qualify as officially dark.…

Vermont Senator Bray is being pressured by the starry-eyed, "90% RE by 2050" folks (the latest trend is 100% RE, a nice round number). Many of those RE folks, a.k.a. "stakeholders" are looking to cash in as much federal and state subsidy money as possible, as quickly as possible. They use the mantra of fighting climate change, global warming and job creation. Other RE folks likely have near-zero experience in the analysis of energy systems.
Accordingly, Senator Bray, eager to…

For the past 200 years, we have multiplied from 1.0 billion in 1800 to 7.4 billion in 2016, and will multiply to a likely 9.5 billion by 2050.
Most of them have lived the good life, courtesy of our fossil fuel inheritance. Transitioning to biofuels is like having to get a real job and work for the annual yield, year after year; a yield subject to the vagaries of the weather.
No more freebees from nature that were just lying around for millions of years waiting…

Vermont’s proposed carbon tax is as described in this URL. Proponents claim the carbon tax would be 90% “revenue neutral”, i.e., mostly returned to the economy likely in convoluted ways, via inefficient, ponderous, government programs in the form of “targeted” tax credits, subsidies, rebates, grants, etc. There would be taxpayer and employer tax rebates, but amounts and eligibility were not specified.…

General Electric Co. was one of several major corporations accused by European regulators Thursday of anti-trust activity, following the European Union’s major action against Facebook for giving misleading information during a deal review.

Wind farms -- which now account for about a fifth of the state’s power mix -- are forecast to generate significantly less electricity this week as the heat builds and keeps turbines from spinning. Wind generation may peak at about 5,900 megawatts on Thursday and 6,900 megawatts Friday, less than two-thirds of what they totaled a week earlier, according to grid manager Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or…

Our government (Obama) spent the last eight years denying our country has energy superiority in the world and trying to make sure we did everything to destroy it. Remember this quote? “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

ContinueWell it seems that Tesla has a dilemma. The $7,500 Production Tax Credit for those buying Tesla vehicles starts to expire when the manufacturing numbers reach 200,000 for any manufacturers. Doesn't sound like a problem since they are only STARTING to make the Model 3 this Friday, and will have 30 by the end of the month, another 100 by the end of August and 1,500 by the end of September. They do believe they will hit the 200,000 mark in the middle of next year counting ALL the models they…

Our friend Jeremy Paine has come out with the latest PDF on what wind did in Maine last year. Of course the numbers are in nameplate levels, and the rest of the numbers probably bear close scrutiny.
One of the savings they touted was the lack of use of WATER! That's right WATER as in hydro power. ????? Does that seem a little questionable? Last time I looked at a dam that was making electricity using WATER, it was coming out the other side the same as it went in. Maybe they meant the…

- A presentation of two alternatives, which include wind, solar, hydro, nuclear and bio energy.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT
******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********
(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
