Maine Not the Only State Being Lied to About Floating Offshore Wind

As long as "free money" is there for the taking, we will keep seeing articles like this one. The problem is that free money is confiscated from taxpayers and ratepayers. As soon as free money disappears, we will no longer see these articles.

Floating Wind Plan Could Finally Crack California’s Offshore Market

...............To date, only a handful of small floating wind projects have been built for demonstration purposes, including Statoil’s Hywind turbine off the southwest coast of Norway, Principle Power’s similar-sized WindFloat project near Portugal, and a trio of government-sponsored turbines 12 miles off the shore of Fukushima, Japan. But energy developers have proposed or are moving forward with a growing number of larger floating wind projects, capable of producing anywhere from 24 to 400 megawatts, in Portugal, Scotland, France, and Hawaii....................

This MIT story is about engineers and industry robbing taxpayers. Everyone should think of the wind industry as an invading enemy because they are invaders, robbing taxpayer coffers. This theft of tax dollars has been going on for decades and they have been selling their useless inefficient technology with fraudulent research and outright lies. Stories like this are like telling the world how great it would be to have a car that gets 1 mpg.
As a wildlife expert I know all about the wind industry's mountain of fraudulent impact research. But there are endless other lies about these stupid monstrosities. Here is just one...............

"With some 3,900 MW of new wind capacity installed worldwide in 1999 alone, wind is proving to be valuable resource for affordable and reliable electricity generation.

The goal to boost wind energy to 25 percent of California electricity by 2020 can be achieved by extending the federal tax credit (PTC) to December 31, 2001. (Read this lie again) Along with numerous State sponsored renewable energy initiatives, including the California Energy Commission’s Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program, and the Administration’s “Wind Powering America” program. In the United States (U.S.), federal and statewide support has helped to increase the market for wind generated electricity."

The truth...........The goal to boost wind energy to 25 percent of California electricity by 2020 will not happen and in fact it will never happen. Today the State of California uses about 300,000 GWH of electricity per year with a fleet of wind turbines claiming an electricity production of about (2015) 11,856 GWH. This amounts to 3.8 percent of California’s grid consumption if one believes their numbers because they do not account for losses. Currently 35-40 percent of California’s growing energy demands are being imported from other Western States. Most of this energy is produced from coal, natural gas and Nuclear power.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
