In this opinion piece the Bangor Daily News writes: "Objective, publicly accessible data, not politically motivated guesswork, should drive that debate".
Is the Bangor Daily News cognizant of the fact that the expedited wind law that paved the way for wind in this poor wind state against the will of the…

More than half the U.S. states with laws requiring utilities to buy renewable energy are considering ways to pare back those mandates after a plunge in natural gas prices brought on by technology that boosted…

*Regarding Change. Org. why when we have over 500 members can we not seem to get these signatures? After about a week of appearence we only have just over 170 signers. Is there something we can do to get the signatures we need? Are some of the other wind organizations aware of this petition and are they promoting it within their membership. I have received no communications from anyone regarding this spare CTFWP tho I contribute to several and have a membership with several. Every signature…

The Expedited Wind Law voted by the Maine Legislature in 2008 specifically calls for protection of Scenic Resources of State or National Significance (SRSNS).
Maine's Downeast Grand Lakes region is a national treasure that contains multiple lakes that are SRSNS which will be unreasonably affected by the presence of 16 nearly five hundred feet tall industrial wind turbines. The turbines will dominate the horizon with miles of monstrous machines by day and destroy the dark night sky with…

Myth 9: Wind turbines kill birds.
Fact: Bird kills have caused serious scientific concern
at only one location in the United States: Altamont
Pass in California, one of the first areas in the country
to experience significant wind development. Over the
past decade, the wind community has learned that wind farms and wildlife can and do coex-
ist successfully. Wind energy development’s overall impact on birds is extremely low (<1 of
30,000) compared to…

This is a pretty comprehensive map. I checked wind farms out for Kern County, Calif and there are a few planned ones I didn't know about.

I really appreciate all the analysis that the Long Islander and others are doing. It is very important. The devil is always in the details But, I think one of the problems in getting "the public" to understand what is going on is that it is so complicated. I had to really concentrate to understand the last post, and I am interested in trying. My take away from the .11 potential wind index figure for my 6:00 pm newscast, hopefully before all the murders and burglaries, is "Not enough wind in…

The wind industry has told us repeatedly that "Maine is the Saudi Arabia of Wind". Moreover, by enlisting locally known figures to repeat this such as Angus King, they have been able to spread this lie far and wide. Not unlike what they have done in at least 14 other states.

Hello. This is Governor Paul LePage.
My fellow Mainers, I told you about some disturbing news last week. You are paying considerably more than you should for electricity. This week, I have more bad news.
Supporters of more expensive energy are planning to double the fee that is added to your electric bill every month.…

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
