In this opinion piece the Bangor Daily News writes: "Objective, publicly accessible data, not politically motivated guesswork, should drive that debate".
Is the Bangor Daily News cognizant of the fact that the expedited wind law that paved the way for wind in this poor wind state against the will of the people affected directly was nothing but politically motivated and wholly devoid of facts?
Question to us all:
The Vestas operating manual states that their own workers must not stay within a 1,300 foot radius of a wind turbine.
http://www.windcows.com/files/Vestas_complete_manual.pdf
That is how far they can easily throw debris, including burning debris. The math says that a 1,300' radius equals 122 acres, yet I keep reading that only 1.5 acres of forest is cleared for each wind turbine. Maine needs to establish a fire safety radius where each turbine sits in a cleared area of 122 acres, or probably more because the Vestas 1,300' radius was based on 389' wind turbines, not today's 500' turbines.
Let's require this fire safety radius and then let's see the wind power applications not be approved on the basis of the environmental destruction their fire radius will bring about.
The wind industry would cry and moan and shout unfair. Too bad.
An example of what we never see from the Maine media:

The BDN editorial had a negative undertone toward anyone who is anti wind(anti scam). Anyway, at least they began to question something this shady industry does. I actually got a reply from someone I contacted about a carbon emission value for the turbines from mine to mtn. Many wind companies would not answer me. nor the NRCM and Env.Me. Erica Bollerud of the EPA promptly answered my inquiry honestly. She stated the emissions were not much !! I felt much better after I heard that...NOT !! There are apparently no studies or carbon debt values anywhere available for scrutiny. She assured me not to be concerned. That was very reassuring to hear...NOT!! Anyway, since the EPA has not done due diligence to monitor increased carbon emissions of the mines and steel plants who are burning coal as fast as they can, maybe a college would tackle the problem. I am sure it would take a lot of time but it seems prudent to halt the windsprawl hysteria until the facts are in. I envision millions of wind turbines spinning 19% of the time while the blades cut thru the smog from the factories which manufacture them. What a nightmare.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
