Following is a fairly incredible revelation, i.e., that in essence, the $1.4 billion MPRP (Maine Power Reliability Program, aka, the "CMP upgrade") was built, after all, for wind and solar.
From the BDN:…

Blame a perfect storm of bad government policies, timing and weather. Coal and nuclear are the most reliable sources of power. But competition from heavily subsidized wind power and inexpensive natural gas, combined with stricter emissions regulation, has caused coal’s share of Texas’s electricity to plunge by more than half in a decade to 18%. Wind’s share has tripled to about 25% since 2010 and accounted for 42% of power last week before the freeze set in. About half of Texans rely on…

For those of you with Amazon Prime, it is worth watching the Brit show called Time Team. Not only is it a fascinating show, but they frequently in their digging uncover harbors and estuaries where there is today a field many meters above current sea level.

Since 2017, renewables advocates have argued that offshore wind power is now very cheap. However, closer examination of their claims reveals a different story.
As the report’s author Andrew Montford explains:
“In fact, if you read the small print, renewables advocates are only saying that windfarms coming on stream after 2018 will be cheap. But we now know this is not…

Excerpts:
The battle over a power line in Maine features a television advertisement depicting felled pine trees in the wooded US state paired with noir images of a corporate tower in modern Bilbao, near the Guggenheim art museum. A voiceover declares: “A good deal for Spain, and a bad deal for Maine.”
“They chose a very xenophobic message that I find incredibly troubling,” said Thorn Dickinson, chief executive of the Avangrid company building the Maine project.…

TEXAS POWER OUTAGE SHOWS IMPACTS OF THE VAGARIES OF THE WEATHER
Texas’ electric grid nearly melted down in the summer of 2019, when searing temperatures sent electricity demand soaring.
The state’s grid operator was able to keep the lights on, but many observers were worried. They wondered if Texas power plants would be able to match the rising demand, driven largely by residents reaching for the dial on their air conditioning units.
When the…

Rush: "Global warming, it stopped warming, so they changed it to climate change. Since they can’t really illustrate massive changes in climate, they modified things and started referring to anything, any weather extreme, as evidence of climate change, be it a flood, which had been happening since Genesis. Talk to Noah about that. Torrential rain. These things are now cited as examples of climate…

Don't ever blame a wind turbine for anything in the media. This message rigging allows the green scammers to keep on selling more of these worthless heaps and infrastructure to the ignorant consumer. The truth is, all the turbines in Texas could be spinning at full speed and power would still be out.

The Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist praised Biden’s efforts to destroy the domestic fossil fuels industry in order to replace it with alternatives under the guise of an eco-friendly “sustainability” during an appearance on “60 Minutes” on Sunday.
During his chat with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Gates touted what he calls a “zero carbon future” that over the next 30 years will require a “global cooperation on a scale the world has never seen”. This is music to the ears of those who…

China has made electric buses and EVs a priority in urban areas to reduce excessive air pollution, due to: 1) coal-fired power plants, and 2) increased vehicle traffic.
The US has much less of a pollution problem than China, except in its larger urban areas.
The US uses much less coal, more domestic natural gas, and CO2-free nuclear is still around.
New England has a pollution problem in its southern urban areas.
Vermont has a minor pollution…

This sure makes for a good headline, but what if the sun goes behind the clouds for a few hours? What if there's no wind? How quickly do electricity users run down the battery, rendering it useless? Who pays for this? Why do we hear about New England's physical constraints on its natural gas supply when the only constraint are politicians' bans on much needed natural gas lines for Maine?

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
