NOT A PENNY FOR THIS MESS. REVOTE NOW!

Maine needs a lot of energy. Cold winters,  longer commutes to work  and short summers.

Maine also needs to overhaul the current legislature, the enemy of energy.
With skyrocketing electric, heating oil and gasoline prices hammering household budgets, our legislature unanimously voted to approve a $1.8 billion-dollar electric transmission line and upgrades from Aroostook County to the New Hampshire border.
Apparently, it was…

Would Be Hell

I don't know just how much Maine Legislators think they can unmercifully mock the Maine PUC, but within the PUC Request for Proposals following through on the lawmakers' assault on the Maine ratepayers combined with a bribe on a unsuspecting Aroostook County is the following statement expressed in very emphatic terms.
"NOTE REGARDING EVALUATION OF COST: The Commission’s evaluation will focus…

Demand Down, Prices UP

Wholesale power prices averaged $71.71 per megawatt-hour (MWh) in the Real-Time Energy Market in June 2022, up 100% compared to the previous year.

Energy use during June decreased 11.3%, to 9,507 GWh, from the 10,722 GWh used in June 2021.

Fools On the Hill

A quick read of the Maine PUC's "Request for Proposals to construct a transmission line out of Aroostook County to transfer "Renewable Power Projects" " into the ISO-NE grid, I must say how stupid are our legislators who all (as in every one of them) voted to allow this boondoggle to go forward. Troy Jackson (His Bill) may be able to…

Price Spikes Vs. Price Relief

There are a whole lot of people in Maine who would like to see something that will set the price of electricity in the opposite direction of what occurred last January when "Standard Offer" electric supply prices went up to 11.81 cents per kilowatt-hour from 6.45 cents per Kw/Hr, and that 11.81 cents is the lowest price compared to the other companies offering electric supply, which according to the Public Advocate's office range from 13.00 cents Kw/Hr…

"Confidentiality" and " Ambiguity"

President Reagan perceived the nature of government in his famous quote about the nine most terrifying words. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help"

I offer a few words derived from the "Northern Maine Renewable Energy Development Program" that should terrify every electric customer in Maine: " Confidentiality" and " Ambiguity"
Last November in response to an order from the legislature,…

Ballots and Voting Machines

Does anyone know why a voting machine would spit a ballot back once it was inserted. Most machines keep the ballot upon insertion. What happens to the ballot if the voter who inserted it into the machine has left the polling place and the clerk doesn't/can't leave his post to retrieve the voter. Is the ballot deemed invalid and discarded? Is it set aside for a hand count?

Exclusive: Joe Biden Is Filling Up Maine Hotels to House His Illegal Migrants — Illegals Get Better Government Freebies than Low Income US Workers

Joe Biden is filling up Maine Hotels with his illegal migrants.

In case you were wondering where the millions of illegals who have walked across our open border are ending up — They’re in your backyard.

This morning a Maine reader sent this tip to The Gateway Pundit.

I had driven by the Casco Bay Inn on Route 1 in Freeport, Maine a number of times. I noticed the “No Vacancy” sign but only a couple of cars in the parking lot.…

Prolonged cold snaps, not heat waves, are more likely to hamper electric reliability in the region.

[J]ust 1 percent of voters in a recent New York Times/Siena College poll named climate change as the most important issue facing the country, far behind worries about inflation and the economy. Even among voters under 30, the group thought to be most energized by the issue, that figure was 3 percent.”…

"State environmental board lets permit stand for transmission line project"

"But the energy corridor's fate still hinges on a Maine Supreme Court ruling on the validity of a 2021 referendum that was designed to kill the $1 billion construction project."

Will the court allow just 18% of eligible voters determine the fate of this price reducing project?

Or will they remand it back to the legislators to do the right…

A Reminder of What Should Be.

In one oil-producing nation, gas sells for the equivalent of $2.35 per gallon. In another, gas sells for almost twice that — $4.532 per gallon.

The first is Saudi Arabia. The second is the United States.

Energy Clarity: Fossil Fuels Improve Our Environment Alex Epstein

As we saw last week, when we’re thinking about and discussing the environmental impact of energy, we can’t assume the impact is only negative. We have to look at whether it plays a role in improving our environment. And it does.

Many of the positive impacts we have on our environment that enable human beings to flourish depend on using a lot of energy.

How energy improves our environment

For example, take the issue…

Like Magic: The Democrat Party’s Paper-Ballots-Only Bill Vanishes into Thin Air

This past summer, Donald Trump stated that the way to shore up America’s elections would be to switch to paper-only ballots and in-person voting. Democrats seized on that comment as proof that Trump was still spreading the “Big Lie” about the 2020 election. But wait a…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
