A quick read of the Maine PUC's "Request for Proposals to construct a transmission line out of Aroostook County to transfer "Renewable Power Projects" " into the ISO-NE grid, I must say how stupid are our legislators who all (as in every one of them) voted to allow this boondoggle to go forward. Troy Jackson (His Bill) may be able to identify trees, but an energy expert he is not.

This is a two-part solicitation. Part 1 is the transmission line along with miles of upgrade all the way to the border with New Hampshire and beyond. Part 2 is the Renewable Projects that will use up land in Aroostook County to make shitty power to travel through this line.

The only way Maine electric customers of CMP and Versant could possibly escape paying for this Billion dollar or more transmission line is if some sucker of a utility in another New England state is dumb enough to pay for it.
And the only way Maine customers of CMP or Versant escape paying for the electricity output from the Renewable Projects is if another out of state sucker purchases it.
Don't count on that sucker being Massachusetts, they have already tried it and are fed up with dealing with Maine.
Hopefully, the PUC will exercise its power to reject all proposals based on "Priority One" Ie, they will NOT benefit Maine ratepayers.
Remember electricity prices are set annually with the "Standard Offer" which most people choose. And electricity prices historically are volatile. If the country elects to frack for natural gas as was the will during President's Trumps time in office, gas prices will fall back, and renewables will lose their parity of costs with natural gas produced power. So, any consideration given to price offers from Aroostook Renewables must be added to the cost of the transmission line, the subsidies renewables receive and the reliability damage (Another Cost) such an onslaught of intermittent, fake power would do to Maine's current transmission lines.
We know wind and solar are follies, but this foolishness belongs to every Maine Legislator, who had better pull their heads out of the sand and take in a breath of common sense for the common good of the Maine people.

WEF Calls For End to Private Car Ownership
Cutting down on "wasteful" car ownership will help to avert a "climate apocalypse," says the WEF
A number of European nations and U.S. states have already passed legislation that will ban the sale of non-electric cars as soon as 2030. Washington, New York and California have already passed such measures while a growing number of EU member states have done the same.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
