I don't know just how much Maine Legislators think they can unmercifully mock the Maine PUC, but within the PUC Request for Proposals following through on the lawmakers' assault on the Maine ratepayers combined with a bribe on a unsuspecting Aroostook County is the following statement expressed in very emphatic terms.
"NOTE REGARDING EVALUATION OF COST: The Commission’s evaluation will focus on the cost and benefits to Maine ratepayers rather than the overall costs and benefits of the project."
It would be a cold day in hell, before any thoughtful Mainer would elect to buy a transmission line and associated line upgrades through the length of Maine from Aroostook County to the New Hampshire border and probably beyond AND pay for the electricity produced in The County so that it can be transferred into the ISO-NE grid and everywhere south of Maine.
The cold days in Maine Would Be Hell with the ratepayer payments needed to bring this boondoggle to reality.
Hold your ground, PUC. Mainers have been punished enough by an uncaring legislature.

The PUC also has the power to delay decisions on proposals until well after November.

This whole setup to swamp Aroostook County with solar panels and windmills is designed to drag ISO-NE into socializing the costs among the six states to which they have the responsibility of providing competitive and reliable electricity.

ISO-NE is an engineering group, lambs to the political wolves. This will become a disaster.

Ambiguity and secrecy are such an advantage for slick marketers out to connive unsuspecting regulators and operation managers.

Talk about letting the foxes into the hen house!

Our Dear Maine Legislators have been bamboozled into the Vast Green Hole of the Universe and are dragging Maine Electric Customers with them.

Paul LePage may be the only person with balls enough to stop this mess.

The secrecy and obfuscation of this whole project stinks to high heaven.

THERE IS NO ECONOMIC BENEFIT TO MAINERS

THIS TRANSMISSION LINE MERELY SERVES TO HAVE HYDRO QUEBEC COUNTERACT THE  LARGE OUTPUT VARIATIONS OF NE WIND AND SOLAR

THE COST OF WIND AND SOLAR HAS INCREASED AT LEAST 30%, from 2020 to 2022, due to increased inflation, increased materials prices, increased energy costs, increased transportation cost, increased financing cost resulting from Biden’s idiot posse of extremists doing everything to kill fossil fuels.

They want to push it through before Page become Governor again.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
