"Maine can export this energy to other resource deprived states"

I wonder how the author of this article would enjoy a 500' tall pounding and flashing industrial wind turbine right next to his home keeping his neighborhood free of eagles, bats and home buyers. I wonder whether he believes Ct and Mass are truly "resource deprived", or just really lacking in people who can be walked on. This article cries out for rebuttal.

"Maine’s potential to grow solar, wind, biomass, wave…

Very Important EUT WEB TUNE IN ALERT at 1PM

Rep. Dion's bill LD 1513 will create a loophole so companies like Iberdrola (where ex-Gov Baldacci is Vice Chair of their newly formed Avangrid affiliate) will be able to own wind projects. Presently a transmission company cannot be in the wind business. That is about to change unless the handmaidens of the special interests can be stopped in their tracks. Baldacci committed himself to this in September 2009 upon his return from a trip to Europe where he met (as Governor) with Iberdrola. It…

PPH - Wind power critics upset by scale of newly proposed Maine projects (Tux Turkel)

Woodcock was reacting to the release Monday of the names of 51 separate projects throughout the region from 23 different development groups that responded to a joint request from Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.........One plan from SunEdison is a massive, 600-megawatt wind farm called King Pine. Another involves two projects from EDP Renewables, Number Nine Wind Farm and Horse Mountain, that together would add up to 650 megawatts.........“This will turn Maine into a wind…

Were Ex-Maine Gov Baldacci's (now quietly Vice Chair of Avangrid, Iberdrola's wind division) and Iberdrola's Smart Meters Built to Support Wind Power Expansion in Maine?

In December 2015, ex-Governor John Baldacci, architect of the wind power virus in Maine, became Vice Chairman of Avangrid, Iberdrola's wind power division. Not a single word on this has been reported by the media.

Aside from the $1.4 billion ratepayer funded MPRP transmission buildout handed to Iberdrola by Governor Baldacci and his henchmen, there was also the extremely high priced smart meter program which Iberdrola got to build. Both of these were put in place for the…

What's it going to take for Mainers to rebel?

How about taking a step back and simply looking at how our government has crushed us. For example, for starters and in no particular order:

1. The Maine senate president Justin Alfond is caught red handed conspiring with the wind industry to pass the laws they want. It is documented by the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting.

2. Former Governor (and now US Senator) Angus King…

This is a full assault that would forever change Maine. The wind law must be changed and local ordinances must be passed if Maine is not going to be totally raped on our watch.

If You Don't Mind Being Raped and Robbed Mainers - Just Ignore This

If you think it's OK for Iberdrola, ex-Gov Baldacci's new employer and the second largest wind company in the U.S., to be able to get the law changed so it can start building wind projects throughout Maine to feast on U.S. taxpayer dollars while holding up ratepayers, then pay no attention to this week's EUT meetings. No need to heed what the EUT does if you are OK with the planned explosion of wind projects throughout the entire state.

Several bills are scheduled for work…

Billionaire Goes to War With SunEdison Inc

To sum up the situation at SunEdison; executives are fleeing, debt costs are rising, and a billionaire hedge fund manager is trying to block a transaction that would have made the Vivint Solar acquisition manageable.

I don't know where this ends, but none of the signs are good for SunEdison today. It will take a miracle for the company to get out from under its past mistakes and now the company is in court fighting against one of the most powerful men on Wall Street. That's far too…

Transmission Projects - The Way Life Should Be ..... For Massachusetts

Updated: 1/24/16

This mammoth transmission project uses as rationale: "Reduce Maine’s consumption by at least 30 percent from 2007 levels of oil by 2030.....". One logical question would thus seem to be -- how can wind electricity projects reduce oil consumption if we do not use oil to make our present electricity supply?

The quoote on…

Vermont Energy Critics Make Strongest Statehouse Push

The makeshift wind turbine erected in front of the Statehouse, emblazoned with the governor’s last name, was the first hint. Then there were the sign-bearing protesters flanking the Statehouse doors.

Inside, in the halls of the Statehouse, the cafeteria and committee rooms, scores more were dressed in bright green vests to highlight their presence and emphasize the danger they feel.

Wednesday brought the biggest show of force yet by Vermonters upset with the state’s…

The New Official Maine State Animal: The Elephant in the Room

Happening now, transforming, if not transmogrifying Maine, is an explosion in transmission lines the state over. They are funded by ratepayers and the biggest of them all "the CMP Upgrade" or Maine Power Reliability Project was sold to us under false pretense by Iberdrola and the Baldacci administration as being based on a need for reliability due to "aging…

It looks as though they changed the order and the WORK SESSION  went first -- and quickly. It was just announced "they will start in just a few minutes waiting for Representative Dion to come over".

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
