ACTION ALERT :WORKING SESSION ON LD 1315 AND 1513 SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 11 TH, YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO ACT!

Current EUT Members (2/2/16) - elected by we the people to work for we the people

Everyone, please heed Monique Thurston's recent plea and write a quick letter or email to your legislator. It can be as simple as the three sentences below from Monique. You can copy and paste these or preferably, put into your own words. Add anything you wish, such as comments on the bills before the EUT this week. Or add nothing. But take the five minutes to do this and please get a fellow wind-aggrieved party to do the same.

Also, please send to each member of the EUT. Their contact information is simple to access. See below.

Please include your name and address. If you want more information on what the legislature advises is the best way to write, please see their  "A Letter Writer's Guide".

As suggested by Monique:

JOHN BALDACCI'S HORRENDOUS WIND LAW IS UNLEASHING A FURY OF DESTRUCTION OF THE MAINE LANDSCAPE AS HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE.

THIS IS TO DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE MORATORIUM ON THIS LAW AND STOP THIS INVASION.

I REQUEST THIS ON THE BASIS THAT CUMULATIVE SCENIC EFFECTS WERE A PROBLEM RECOGNIZED BY THE OEIS REPORT IN 2012, YET THAT REALITY HAS NEVER BEEN ADDRESSED.

PLEASE SEND YOUR LETTER TO THE EUT MEMBERS EMAIL ADDRESS AT THE LEGISLATURE  AS ONE CAME BACK WHICH WAS SENT TO THEIR " REGULAR" ADDRESS WITH A MILD DEGREE OF AGGRAVATION IN THE RESPONSE.

Sent my letter, it was more than 3 sentences but I tried to keep it brief.

Alice - the change to the scenic regulations which would have been a major obstacle to wind came from Gov Baldacci's emergency wind law of 2008 which went right through the EUT Committee.

123rd Maine Legislature, First Special Session

An Act To Implement Recommendations of the Governor's Task Force on Wind Power Development

Also, the OEIS report was the offspring of the famous Fitts resolve initiated at the working session after the EUT testimonies of the legislative session in 2011, so it is appropriate to send emails to that committee about a moratorium based on aspects discussed and recommended for study in the OEIS report. (There were many recommendations -- cumulative scenic adverse effect was one of them as per a paragraph in Monique's original post. The report was compiled by Kenneth Fletcher under the direction of Steve Ward. Ken Fletcher was the then director of the Energy department.
The EUT committee never acted upon their own report so it is acceptable in my view to throw this back to their hands with an acute sense of rage in view of the nightmare unfolding.........

EUT does not work on visuals.  That would be Natural Resourses game.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/

Sign up today and lend your voice and presence to the steadily rising tide that will soon sweep the scourge of useless and wretched turbines from our beloved Maine countryside. For many of us, our little pieces of paradise have been hard won. Did the carpetbaggers think they could simply steal them from us?

We have the facts on our side. We have the truth on our side. All we need now is YOU.
