UPC First Wind (bought by SunEdison) business history is a great indicator of their future performance.
First Wind was formerly UPC founded by Brian Caffyn.

Corporate wrongdoing by Volkswagon is by Financial Times compared to Enron. Interesting to note government favor, hiding massive losses, have much to do with ENRON that launched commercial wind in the U.S. How coincidental that former ENRON execs have reappeared the wind sector?

SunEdison (SUNE) has plummeted 71.4% in 3 months attributable to its purchases of renewable companies.
LOL., snippets from today's Motley Fool on SUNE...
"One of the reasons investors loved SunEdison so much is the company's incredible growth spree. In the past year, it bought First Wind, a $2 billion portfolio of wind projects from Invenergy,…

Following the First Wind model, SunEdison is losing money hand over fist while taking on astronomical debt. Apparebntly they hope to make up for their unprofitability with volume. This paid off for FW because Paul Gaynor found the proverbial 'Greater Fool' in SunEdison. But will SunEdison ever find a greater fool to bail them out? It's not likely.…

The market is concerned about SunEdison/Terraform's acquisition spree. After spending some $5 billion on First Wind, Invenergy and others, are looking for results.
"Investors have become accustomed to SunEdison and TerraForm's frequent upgrades to guidance. While the latest acquisition was another step in the right direction, additional announcements related to acquisitions or guidance upgrades could lead towards even more muted response. That's because Shareholders want to see…

Why do we look to the wind industry for solutions to our energy needs when the cradle of industrial wind in the U.S. is ENRON?
The Director of First Wind is (was?) Patrick Wood III. First Wind CEO Paul Gaynor is former MA Deval Patrick’s appointed Advisor to the MA energy secretary on green policy under the Global Warming Solutions Act. Wood is also the Former FERC Chair who failed to address energy market manipulation that led to the CA Energy Crisis, and…

George Smith, outdoor writer and former Director of the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine (SAM), recently lost his father. My sincere condolences to the family.
On 10/31 he devoted his BDN column to remembering some of the great hunting trips he and his father shared. He closed with an insight that I think many of us share:
"We didn’t have firearms that day,
and didn’t kill anything,
but that’s the smallest part of hunting..."
As I read that my…

The Great Wind Energy Bait and Switch is a scenario that should have been avoided.Continue
Ratepayers have been assured by the industry that wind energy is a reliable energy
source that would reduce electricity costs, and these promises were parroted by our
policy makers. Only after spending billions of public dollars on wind, we are being
informed by the beneficiaries of our largess,…

This afternoon DEP released the draft of its decision on First Wind's Bowers Mountain Wind Project. The Department concluded that "The proposed activity would significantly compromise views from a SRSNS and would have an unreasonable adverse effect on the scenic character and existing uses related to scenic character of the resource."
The decision specifically states that even if the radar-activated lighting were to be retrofitted to the project, it would still have an unreasonable…

On December 4th, Senators Snowe and Collins voted against an amendment to the Federal Tax Relief bill that would have given away billions of dollars in Public subsidies to industrial wind development corporations.
That amendment was brought forth by Senator Max Baucus of Montana, as part of the Federal Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. The Senator has vowed to see the multibillion dollar 1603 cash grant program extended for so-called…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT
******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********
(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
