This "news reporting" is extremely biased, for example: (My comments are in bold)
Massachusetts has led the transition, ordering its utilities to purchase 1,600 megawatts of offshore wind by 2027, equal to 10 percent to 15 percent of the state’s annual electricity consumption. Mr. Turkel, do you not see fit to question the concept of the government ORDERING ratepayers to buy a particular product?
The Massachusetts…

The Natural Resources Council of Maine criticized the commission’s vote on Tuesday to reconsider the contract terms, saying it was a “bad faith” decision that reflects Gov. Paul LePage’s anti-wind stance........“This administration will do anything to thwart renewable energy development, whether it comes from international investors or our own University of Maine,” Dylan Voorhees, NRCM’s clean energy director, said in the release."…

A North Dakota wind project that raised concerns with wildlife officials about impacts to habitat is moving forward this summer after the developer made a $557,000 payment to Ducks Unlimited.
The North Dakota Game and Fish Department wrote in comments to state utility regulators that a considerable portion of the Foxtail Wind Project in Dickey County would affect native, unbroken prairie that is vital to declining wildlife populations.…

The report includes recommendations that include restoring an office that fast-tracked wind power projects during the administration of Democratic Gov. John Baldacci. It was dismantled by Republican Gov. Paul LePage.

During the two-year window, DOE would determine which electricity systems and gas pipelines are critical for ensuring that military installations get the power they need and where power outages could cause the most damage.
The DOE plan said this review "has never previously been undertaken," which appeared to ignore a library of studies, analyses, surveys and "war games" directed at grid vulnerabilities, including gas-fired generators' dependence on natural gas pipeline…

Former Governor John Baldacci is of course vice chair of Avangrid, although the media in Maine refuse to report on this.
Town Supervisor Susan Wood says she can’t be bought and questions tactics used by wind developer Avangrid in its attempt to build a 27-turbine wind farm in her town.

Yes Habib, flushing billions in taxpayer money down the toilet, killing ratepayers, harming fishermen, harming tourism and driving companies out of Maine due to yet higher electricity costs will indeed help the state's economy. What a shamelessly shilling self serving statement. BRASS. Give us a break. …

NRCM and the wind developers do not want this line. If the line is not built, many more wind projects would be planned for Maine. Does anyone think that NRCM told Patagonia how many ridges get destroyed and how many birds get killed when industrial wind projects come to Maine?
“Most of the power lines are in place already! Wind power causes way more destruction by blowing holes on tops of our beautiful mountains! Hydro power is steady,…

King’s banners, signs and bumper stickers read simply “Angus – Independent for U.S. Senate” and his address was a mix of policy priorities, light-hearted anecdotes and quotes from Abraham Lincoln.................He has been pretending to be something he is not for so long that he has lost touch with the needs of Maine people. Angus King is no independent – not even close. He plays an independent in election year sound bites and TV ads, but still votes like an elite California liberal…

Gov. Paul LePage and Central Maine Power are battling it out with environmental groups, local power generators and a bipartisan group of legislators over a proposed $950 million electrical transmission line from Lewiston to Quebec. The 146-mile New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC), which is a joint effort of CMP and Hydro-Québec, would bring 1,200 megawatts of Canadian hydro power to Massachusetts through the existing regional grid to comply with the…

An energy development company is requesting a zoning change for more than 700 acres of blueberry fields in eastern Hancock County where it hopes to establish a 100-megawatt solar farm.
The site in Township 16, on land owned by Elliott Jordan & Son Inc., is roughly a mile away from a wind turbine that is part of Novatus Energy’s 51-megawatt Hancock Wind farm which, according to a report by Vox, has the tallest land-based wind turbines in the…

A wind turbine has burst into flames in the Cambridgeshire Fens.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but it comes after storms and lightning strikes.…

CMP Ratepayers Unite said late Monday that two Maine-based attorneys involved with the matter have retained a New York firm to take the lead, on behalf of utility customers who believe they have been overcharged. It said that Sumner H. Lipman and James Belleau have retained Napoli Schkolnik PLLC, to prepare a class action on behalf of these customers.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
