What's up with Saving Maine?

The last I have really heard about Saving Maine was that they were going all out in their effort to publicly blacken the reputation of Friends of Maine's Mountains. Since then has Saving Maine been doing anything positive? Any news on their effort to collect signatures and repeal the wind act? I went to their web site and it looks just as dormant as when I visited many months ago. I can't find any recent mentions of them in the press. Does anybody know if they're doing any tangible work in…

Making up for losses with volume

Following the First Wind model, SunEdison is losing money hand over fist while taking on astronomical debt. Apparebntly they hope to make up for their unprofitability with volume. This paid off for FW because Paul Gaynor found the proverbial 'Greater Fool' in SunEdison. But will SunEdison ever find a greater fool to bail them out?  It's not likely.…

Sun Edison (First Wind Owner) In trouble with finances.

Sun Edison, who has been on a spending spree buying up smaller wind and solar companies, finds itself in trouble.  $11 BILLION in debt.  Lets hope the subsidies die and we can help them fail even further.  It's about time these greedy subsidy sucking companies get theirs.…

Warren Buffet: "On wind energy, we get a tax credit if we build a lot of wind farms. That's the only reason to build them. They don't make sense without the tax credits."

Article spells out all the reasons we already know to be true.  Very well written and up to date article that any of us can use to make comments on future articles.  Read below…

Angus King's contribution to the energy hot air and gas coming out of Washington DC

While Barack Obama is focused on his "legacy" green energy initiative which Hilary Clinton has pledged to continue, Angus is focused on a national grid to spread intermittent wind power across the country, while now also pandering to voters who have lost interest in wind - And now are focused on solar.  If only we could harness all the not air and gas coming out of DC!!…

Obama Administration's Clean Power Plan Wins Praise in Maine

This type of study probably never preceded Wind Power in Maine.

recently released study commissioned by the Maine Public Utility Commission dropped a bombshell on the electricity world earlier this year, valuing distributed solar at $0.33 per kWh, far above the state’s prevailing price. Maine’s traditional, centrally generated grid electricity is…

China / USA Air Quality

Most News reports state that our Turbine Towers are produced in China. Is this is where most of the CO² is being created in the production of our Not so Green wind turbines ?

This may not be representative of where Wind turbine components are produced in China, but shows the lax air quality standards. Though we have our own problems. Given yesterday's news announcement, China is currently building Coal fired power plants at a record rate. Coal has the intense power on demand…

Hurray!!! Maybe there is Progress!

I hope this is not just a little stumbling block put out there.  I hope this means someone is finally looking at the real economics of the Green Energy Movement.  There is a good reason Maine is dead last in solar development, it is because during the 8 months a year we really need power, we have little or no sunlight.  It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out.…

More on Canadian Hydropower

This article is from ISO NE about how we should beware of the boost in Canadian Power.  They cite the fact that transmission lines would have to be run to bring it down from the North.  I think I would rather have continuous, cheap, reliable power run over new transmission lines than towering spinning blades and flashing lights.  ISO NE is completely in the bag for wind.  And our prices will be going up, driving any hope for new business and jobs.  Wind kills jobs, not makes…

How about our Rivers here in Maine? They worked for 150 years.

Now we are being deluged with articles touting the positive green power of Canadian Rivers.  For over a century we powered our mills and homes with Hydro Power, the cleanest and most economical power there is.  There is little or no initial investment, at least not like the kind for solar or wind, and it is extremely reliable, unlike wind and solar.  There is also no fuel investment.  Modern dams can be built to allow the migration of fish to spawning grounds, yet we are tearing them out of…

Whenever the tax credit has been removed, wind tower development has fallen by up to 93 percent.

ThinkstockPhotos-477780658

.....Wind turbines are put up solely for the Production Tax Credit given to the multinational organizations who end up owning them. Those who make a minuscule percentage of the profit are the few farmers who have the wind towers on their land, the real profits go to those corporations. Wind turbines have nothing to do with wind, green energy or more cost efficient electricity. It is big government…

Subject: New Comprehensive Federal Hydro legislation introduced with bi-partisan support.

Bipartisan energy legislation submitted to the U.S. Senate yesterday includes an extensive section that explicitly defines hydroelectric power as a renewable, while also improving on existing hydropower regulation.

Introduced by Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., the "Energy Policy Modernization Act…

How does this produce "REAL" employment?

The Number Nine project in Bridgewater is supposed to be a big boost to employment in the County.  There will be 300 TEMPORARY jobs to build the project and the 50 mile spur to hook up to the grid.  As in the past, most of these jobs will be filled from out of state and the 16 PERMANENT jobs will probably only be half filled by locals.  There is $2 million to be distributed to the locals to put in heat pumps and upgrade their homes for heat.  That is a pretty small amount and would only…

With just over 4% of our energy production, how does wind figure into the mix?

More lies from the wind industry to try and trump up their base to get more subsidies.  The writer talks up the wind industry in the southwest and west and says the East coast is not as well suited for wind.  How did Maine get talked in to being the Saudi Arabia of Wind?

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
