Can the PPH Be More Hypocritical? I don't think so!

Refinery plan called affront to Teddy Roosevelt’s legacy

The ultimate Hypocrisy of the PPH is overwhelming. They import an article all the way from North Dakota to protest an “Affront To The Legacy Of Teddy Roosevelt.” Where were they when the now defunct and bankrupt First Wind, a spawn of King Angus and his cronies, decided to step all over a 2003 Maine Department of Conservation acquisition of lands and established a…

Is ‘big wind’ making people sick?

According to Renewable Northwest, a renewable energy nonprofit organization, the average wind turbine operates at around 50 decibels. However, a 2003 study indicates the during nighttime hours, the sound produced from wind turbines could be 18 decibels higher than the predicted daytime levels due to the lack of ambient background noise. This translates to the average wind turbine being 13 decibels higher than the amount that causes adverse health effects. The study was conducted of wind…

Naomi Schalit to retire from Pine Tree Watch, Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting

“But after eight years of running a start-up and doing everything from writing stories to fundraising to changing the ink cartridges, the time has come to slow down a bit and concentrate on what I enjoy the most — writing.”

John Christie, co-founder, will continue his work with the Center, as Consulting Editor.…

Groups Say Billions Needed To Jumpstart Stalled Wind Energy Development In Maine

NOTE: This article now appears in the BDN.

Good to see former EUT Co-Chair Stacey Fitts working for the wind industry he helped while in the EUT. He was also a member of both of Governor Baldacci's wind task forces. And of course heinous expedited wind law creator Baldacci was made vice chair of Avangrid, the nation's second largest…

For those of you who remember the movie, "The Graduate""The future was in plastic" Well......the future is in METHANE HYDRATES!

We all know that dense reliable energy sources like oil, natural gas, and nuclear are beneficial and support modernity because per unit of their mass, they produce large amounts of mobile electron generation and power when efficiently utilized. Wind and solar as we all know are expensive low density faddist political "green" costly items that   only produce feckless intermittent  sources of power . They  must be subsidized too at  high levels by our tax dollar and must utilize  fossil backup…

BDN: GE said to face probe for $1.7 billion wind power deal

The company who didn't pay any taxes and whose CEO Jeff Immelt headed the previous administration's Economic Advisory Board and then chaired the President Obama's  outside panel of economic advisers. The ultimate insider.

The European Commission is reviewing whether GE misled EU officials examining a deal to buy LM Wind Power, a maker of wind-turbine blades, for 1.5 billion euros ($1.7 billion), said the people, who asked not to be named as…

Divergence of Species Responses to Climate Change

A very interesting and scientifically driven study of how climate change has increased the size of plant life, specifically forests, and increased the size of the plants themselves due to climate change. They specifically note both an increase in the temperature and an increase in the water available is the primary reason this is happening. While this is a real positive aspect of climate change, it is…

Top 10 Reasons We Work On Conservative Clean Energy

For the last 30 years the Energy Policy in the US has been backwards. We have spent too much time trying to develop expensive, unreliable "renewables" like wind and solar and have neglected the innovations in nuclear and hydro. It is far cheaper to build hydro but the government has gotten in the way and we have totally avoided nuclear and the new nuclear technologies. China is eating our lunch while we waste our time on fraudulent claims about wind and solar and storage…

New Rule Functionally Bans Wind Turbines in Vermont

Public Service Board retains setback limit of 10 times the height of the turbine; a 500-foot turbine would have to be at least 5,000 feet from the nearest residence.

New England in Precarious Position After EPA Shuts Down Coal

Obama's Energy legacy is failing New England, and even ISO NE is telling us that the shutdown of coal, nuclear and oil plants in New England is going to leave a massive hole in the grid. They are even saying wind and solar can NOT fill the gap as they are not sufficient, don't have grid support and are not reliable enough to work. Within a year or so, Pilgrim will be shut down and all the coal plants will be gone. The green movement is fighting the gas pipeline at all levels, being headed up…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
