Why are there such stark differences in monthly electric bills among the New England States ?

All six states participate in a wholesale electric market that uses a clearinghouse pricing structure, meaning the wholesale price of electricity at any given moment is the same throughout the region.
State Average Monthly Electric Bill 2017
Connecticut $139.97
Massachusetts $116.86
New Hampshire $114.95
Rhode Island $105.76
Vermont $95.02
Maine $87.21
Could be Maine is more frugal with…

ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND MASS TRANSIT SUBSIDIZED BY CARBON TAXES

On December 18, 2018, a coalition of nine Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states and the District of Columbia announced their intent to design a new regional low-carbon transportation policy proposal that would cap and reduce carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels, and invest funds (taxes, fees and surcharges imposed by the program) into low-carbon and more resilient transportation infrastructure.

RI Dept of Health: "Turbines don't cause health problems - “If you don’t like them then try another argument”

Johnston mayor: Wind turbines are none of Cranston’s business

When asked about the concerns Tuesday, Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena said the town and company that owns the turbines went through the proper channels to have them constructed. Cranston residents said they were never notified of planning and zoning board hearings held in 2017.

“They don’t have to be notified,” Polisena argued. “Quite frankly, not to be…

Letter to the editor: Rise up against CMP’s burdensome rate increases

Everyone knows that Maine winters can be brutal. In our rural state, some residents may become isolated, and for those who are low income, the need for reliable and affordable electricity is imperative.

Central Maine Power is the largest electricity provider in the state. The utility giant serves 600,000 customers in central and southern Maine, which is equal to about 78 percent of Maine residents.

Last week, we learned that for CMP customers, electricity rates…

BAD NEIGHBOR: Johnston, RI wind turbines have neighboring Cranston up in arms

Sounds like what Oakfield did to Island Falls.

Back in September 2017, Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena said the turbines would all be built on private industrial sites and wouldn’t be close to any residences.

“It’s in an unobtrusive area where you’re not going to have homes around it that people are going to have issues with basically a lot of it is farmland area old farms,” Polisena said.

But more than one year later, Cranston residents…

"The Earth is in a CO2 famine"

‘Global warming’ fears are a tool for ‘political and economic’ change…it has nothing to do with the actual climate’

Stuart Varney: Now I take no position. I’m not, in my editorials I’m not arguing that yes, it, climate change exists, yes it is human, I don’t take a position, but what is your position? Is the, is the planet warming, and if it is warming, is it result of human activity? Where do you…

Where Was NG Plant Owners When We Fought Against Wind ?

I can't remember one natural gas plant owner in Maine that fought with us as we opposed  all the wind projects in Maine that now send over a million megawatt-hours of electricity into the grid because of purchase contracts with Southern New England Utilities.

Could it be whereas wind is intermittent and requires natural gas plant back-up. they knew their profit margins would increase with wind. while their production costs decreased as wind power offset their…

Cars, trucks, boats, planes add most emissions in Maine

We've been publishing hard data on this for many years. Where has everyone else been?

Wind promoter NRCM talks about transportation but for 10 years has made land based wind its priority - a generation source that does not and cannot do anything about emissions coming from transportation. If we were ever to move to all electric cars and trucks that would be powered with carbon-free electricity, we'd need nuclear. NRCM opposes nuclear just…

MAINE NEARLY DOUBLES UP ON RENEWABLE GOALS !

                           Source : EIA

In 2017, about three-quarters of Maine's net electricity generation came from renewable sources, with almost one-third from hydroelectric dams, one-fourth from biomass generators using mainly wood waste products, and one-fifth from wind turbines. In addition, almost one-fifth of net generation came from natural gas.

Green New Deal Is Bad Deal for All Americans

For close to a decade, the Left has looked at a “Green New Deal” as the only solution to supposed manmade climate change. According to the eco-Left, the Green New Deal -- a massive federal government stimulus program coupled with a rapid and total transformation from fossil fuels to renewable energy -- is the only way to avert environmental doom.

Just last month, shortly after winning election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said, “We have 10…

WINDMILLS KILL BIRDS AND WARM THE EARTH - New Science

We have all known that the huge influx of wind turbines being added across the nation are unsightly, but now they are deemed HARMFUL to the environment and are adding to the warming of the Earth by disrupting the wind patterns at the ground level.

This is really interesting and they also cite bird kills as a minus for wind.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
