When insanity has disastrous consequences .

"Biden’s critics point to his increased energy regulation, shutting down the Keystone Pipeline and for months banning new drilling leases on federal lands. They also blame increased federal spending under the Biden administration, which has significantly increased inflation and, as a result, consumer prices for a range of goods and services.

The American Petroleum Institute said “ill-advised government decisions” are the main cause of the rising costs."

“Joe Biden…

Forty-two Years of Satellite Data Raise Doubts About Man-made Climate Change

We all agree there has been global warming. The issue is how much.

The global warming is NOT uniform over the entire surface of the earth; some areas have warmed more than others

The ACCURATE satellite data regarding global warming, from 1979 onwards, is the ONLY OBJECTIVE UNALTERED  data.

All the rest, from 1850 and onward, is subjective malarkey, based on dubious temperature date and interpolated estimates, made up by various “climate experts”,…

CMP customers to pay an average of $30 more per month in 2022 for electricity

This story will be updated.

Most Central Maine Power Co. residential and business customers will have to pay 83 percent higher electricity bills in 2022, the result of rapidly escalating prices for the natural gas that powers New England’s energy grid, a state regulatory agency said Wednesday.

The sharp increase in the electricity supply rates, announced by the Maine Public Utilities Commission, resulted from the agency’s competitive bidding process…

Huge Clean Energy RFP Issued Today by Maine PUC

And this one is a double-wammy!

Links provided within this post

Wind developers are high-fiving today. An RFP was issued this morning by the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for a legislature-mandated transmission corridor that seeks to bridge the gap between Aroostook and the New England grid. While this is momentous, it’s not merely another transmission corridor case. This 12 month RFP…

CMP corridor opponent aims for higher office

A member of the anti-Central Maine Power hydropower corridor coalition is taking a shot at higher office. While main CMP critic Tom Saviello is still teasing the idea of taking a shot at governorship, Caratunk select board member Liz Caruso has formally jumped into the Republican primary for the 2nd Congressional District race in the hopes of taking down U.S. Rep. Jared Golden. Caratunk was one of the first towns to rescind…

Mainers face shock in 2022 electricity rates - Environmental groups have stalled natural gas pipeline expansion

Experts say the expected increase is primarily a result of rising prices for natural gas. Maine's solar policies also could increase rates in the coming years.

EXCERPTS

A majority of Mainers could see the rate they pay for their home’s electricity supply jump between 60 and 80 percent next year, based on assumptions provided to the Legislature by the state Public Utilities Commission, as well as wholesale prices observed by energy…

French couple wins legal fight over wind ‘turbine syndrome’

A French court has recognised “turbine syndrome” after a couple complained their health was damaged by living near a windfarm.

In what is believed to be the first judgment of its kind in France, Belgians Christel and Luc Fockaert were awarded more than €100,000 in compensation by the judge in Toulouse.

The couple claimed they experienced a range of health problems including headaches, insomnia, heart irregularities, depression and nausea for more than two years, insisting…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/

Hannah Pingree on the Maine expedited wind law

Hannah Pingree - Director of Maine's Office of Innovation and the Future

"Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion.
