From the UMPI website. When will the University do its job and report on the undebelly of the slick wind hype machine and help save Maine and Mainers from this Enron-inspired scam? When the University research is not fairly assessed and broadcasted, it is essentially scandalous.
Time to declare this sole state experiment into onshore wind power the outright failure it is and pronounce all wind industry claims going forward guilty before proven innocent.
For university personnel to simply look the other way is very, very wrong.
University of Maine's Wind Turbine
This PDF examines the history of the University's industrial wind turbine. As the sole onshore wind experiment by the state, and not an insignicant expense of $2 million and counting, we believe it should give the state pause to question the overblown electricity production promises of the wind industry, on which were based much of the state's expedited wind law that is presently creating havoc with our citizens' health, citizens' rights, wildlife, quality of place, town social dynamics and electricity/transmission rates.

According to my records the UMPI wind turbine website has posted the identical special report (above) that begins: "Last weekend.. and ends: ".....primary wind months" continuously since September 3rd.
The promised regular and full reports on the website became spotty and non-continuous the day after Christmas, 2010. I monitor the site daily, hoping for information on this iconic wind turbine. Ity is a frustrating task. The manufacturer of the UMPI turbine is located in India. UMPI's turbine maintenance contractor is Honeywell.

This governor, and the taxpayers in Maine, want the facts, not the hype that was sold the the State of Maine by the industrial wind complex. Let's face it, these turbines are prone to failures and inherant inefficiencies, because the wind companies were more interested in getting as many built in Maine before we all woke up to the fact that they are much less efficient and more costly than proclaimed by the former administrations.
