Switzerland, Serbia Offer To Host Trump–Putin Ukraine Peace Talks

Switzerland and Serbia have both offered to host a potential meeting between President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, following recent discussions about the possibility of such talks.

Finding a Neutral Site to Hold Talks

The Swiss Foreign Ministry said on Jan. 12, it is willing to host talks between Trump and Putin.

However, no NATO country would be a neutral venue for such talks

.

On the same day, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said, Serbia would be an “extremely suitable” venue for such a meeting given that Trump and Putin are highly popular in Serbia.

Switzerland, which is not a member of NATO or the European Union, would like to be the venue, but it is not a neutral country, because it imposes sanctions on Russia, and sends weapons and money to Ukraine.

Serbia, which is not a member of NATO or the European Union, has not imposed sanctions on Russia, and does not send weapons to Ukraine. Serbia is much more neutral than Switzerland would ever be.

Trump Wants to Meet Putin

Trump, who has vowed to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine after he assumes office, announced last week that his team is working to arrange a meeting with Putin.

The president-elect, who is set to be sworn into office for a second term on Jan. 20, did not provide any further details about where or when the meeting might take place or what might be on the agenda.

“That war would have never happened if I had been president, and

I’m going to try and stop it as quickly as I can,” 

The president-elect decried the “staggering” loss of life in the Russia–Ukraine conflict, adding:

“We have to get that war over with. That’s a bloody mess.”

The West, under Biden/Blinken, has not talked with Russia for several years, on purpose, to create the impression Putin is isolated,

Putin has repeatedly said , Russia is ready for discussions with the US regarding the historical development of various issues related to the Ukraine situation, but the Biden/Blinken cabal is opposed, as part of the isolation strategy

Putin is hopeful Trump will be able to navigate the complexities/nuances of the issues related to the Ukraine conflict and help create appropriate conditions for a permanent peace agreement.

Saudi Arabia, Russia, the US and Coal, Oil and Gas

1) Trump is telling Putin to settle now. It will only get worse.

Trump says, if Putin is not settling, there will be more taxes, tariffs and sanctions on Russia and its aligned countries.

Trump and the Deep State aim to drive down the price of oil and gas by leaning on Saudi Arabia and drill, baby drill, to reduce Russia’s revenues to the break even point.

2) Trump and Rutte are urging NATO countries to increase military spending up to 5% of GDP by 2030, which means in a few years NATO would be much stronger.
That will be worse for Russia, especially with reduced energy export revenues.

3) Saudi Arabia's application to become a member of BRICS has been accepted, but Saudi Arabia has taken no action yet.

The King of Saudi Arabia, who almost never travels abroad, visited Trump and offered to invest $600 billion in the US in 4 years.

It is likely, the future price of oil and gas will be less, if drill, baby drill floods the market

This will negatively affect Saudi Arabia and Russia, but not the US, which has very little exports other than LNG.

Every day Ukraine fights, Ukraine loses at least 1600 dead and seriously wounded, and NATO has more time to become stronger.

NATO would like an immediate cease fire to stop the manpower losses of Ukraine, and insert at least 100,000 troops (primarily German, French, UK) on the line of contact, about 800 miles closer to Moscow. That would formally enter NATO into Ukraine, which is a non-starter for Russia.

The Deep State's other goals are political control of Greenland and making Canada the 51st US state, both of which would give the US a long shoreline on the resource-rich Arctic Sea to counter Russia's long shore line

If Putin, with the prospect of a financially strapped Russia, were to “settle the Ukraine War”, what guaranty/leverage would Russia have that a stronger NATO, urged on by the Deep State, would not want to “unsettle things”, such as in east Ukraine, or in the Arctic, with a more militarized Canada, Greenland, Norway, Sweden and Finland, or create Color Revolution/Regime Change within Russia, as almost happened in Russia in 2000, as almost happened in Belarus in 2020 and Kazakhstan in 2022 and Georgia in 2024, and as soon may be happen in Serbia, Slovakia and Hungary.

All this could get very dicey!

Trump may become ensnared into a Deep State trap, which, in the end, may not be good for MAGA.

Trump should withdraw almost all US troops from Europe and de-emphasize NATO, to advance worldwide peace and prosperity, instead of increasing worldwide instability and war-mongering.

All this would not have happened, if NATO had not moved bases and missiles and troops beyond East Germany, as solemnly promised to Gorbachev in 1991. 

This ultimately led to the present situation, which is a dysfunctional dead end.

The US was the prime instigator/financier/organizer, per Victoria Nuland, who said "we spent $5 billion from 1990 to 2014 to get this far", during the violent Coup d'Etat in Kiev in 2014; several hundred people were killed and seriously wounded over a few months. The legally elected President had to flee from Ukraine.

After the Kiev Coup in 2014, the Ukraine Armed Forces, UAF, attacked the Dombass and other east Ukraine areas, and killed and seriously wounded tens of thousands of Russian-speaking people from 2014 to 2022, who did not want to be ruled by the Russia-hating, Azov cliques installed in Kiev.

Russia aided the "separatists" to prevent them from being overrun and slaughtered by Azov battalions.

UN observers wrote monthly reports, but they were ignored by the Corporate Media and filed away in UN vaults

The West would gain command/control of the seven pieces and their resources. Russia would cease to exist.

Yeltsin was President, Putin was Vice President. Yeltsin, in failing health, suddenly resigned in December 1999, and appointed Putin as Acting President

Putin became President after the elections in March 2000. No Color Revolution took place. 

Putin allied Russia with China and India, which later became BRICS, a group of about 30 nations with similar interests.

Major Changes Since August 6, 2024

Major changes took place since the Kursk incursion on August 6, 2024, not in Ukraine's favor, including its severe lack of available fighters for its already depleted UAF, which is losing about 1200 to 1600 killed and seriously wounded every day, plus 250 to 400 in Kursk every day, leading to a Kursk total of 53,000, as of Jan 19, 2025, and counting.

This in addition to:

1) the destruction of defensible fortifications,

2) the destructive of NATO-provided equipment and ammunition, and

3) Ukraine losing many thousands of sq. km. of territory.

Russia, has been gaining more and more Ukraine territory every day, and is slowly rolling back the nonsensical incursions in the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod Regions.

Russia has liberated about 63% of the territory in the Kursk Region temporarily occupied by the Ukraine’s military. About 801 sq. km retaken of 1,268 sq. km seized by the UAF after its August 6, 2024 incursion.

Ukraine domestic population, under Kiev rule, has shrunk to about 25 million, of which 10.7 million are pensioned.

Where would fighting-age people come from? Ukraine is running out of canon fodder!

No wonder Zelensky, Trump and NATO want a deal that would temporarily freeze the situation.

The Russian Approach During the Next Few Months

A few more months of fighting would be disastrous for Ukraine.

Turkey's foreign minister, seeing its interests in Ukraine threatened, called for an immediate cease fire.

Russia’s best approach is to keep advancing, and keep depleting Ukraine’s armed forces, UAF, as much as possible, to achieve check mate.
A good start would be to damage the east side of 20 or so bridges across the Dniepr River, so nothing can cross from west to east.

That would quickly end the Kursk incursion into Russia, and create a large demilitarized buffer zone to keep the UAF away from Russia.

Russia’s Goals for a Peace Agreement

In a June 2024 meeting with Russian Foreign Ministry leaders, Putin outlined conditions for peace talks, including:

1) Ukrainian troop withdrawals from contested regions,

2) Ukraine’s adoption of a neutral status,

3) De-nazification of Ukraine. See NOTE

4) “Demilitarization” of the part of the country under Ukraine jurisdiction,

5) No NATO facilities, arms, trainers, and troops in Ukraine,

6) Accounts for "facts on the ground", including the Russian annexation of the five provinces of Ukraine,

7) Lifting of all Western sanctions,

8) Ukraine never a member of NATO, and

9) Ukraine never suppressing 400 years of Russian culture in Ukraine.

Ukraine would be a neutral, demilitarized, and de-nazified state that guarantees all civil rights to all people, including Russian-speakers, and recognizes territorial changes on the ground.

Russia does not want an armistice/cease fire, as in Korea. That hateful, armed-stand-off, has lasted many decades, with the US/South Korea armed forces “exercising to show resolve”

Russia envisions Ukraine and Russia as brotherly, Slavic nations with much of the same history and culture.

NOTE: The ultra-nationalist, Azov battalions in Ukraine, part of the UAF, have fully tattooed bodies with Nazi motifs, wear uniforms with Nazi symbols, shave their heads, hate and slaughter Russians at will in the East. The ultra-nationalist Stepan Bandera, revered as a hero in Ukraine with statues and parades, collaborated with the German Nazis, by aiding and abetting the murder of many thousands of Polish and Ukrainian Jews, and other people.

While Trump has pledged to bring an end to the hostilities, he has offered few specifics as to how he would accomplish that.

Trump has said, he would leverage his personal relationships with Putin and Zelenskyy to bring the two men to the table to hammer out a deal.

However, Zelenskyy, by law, is not allowed to talk and negotiate with Russia, until after Putin's term has ended, plus his own term expired last year.

As a result, only the Ukraine Legislature has any legal authority to sign agreements.

Trump has said he opposes allowing Kyiv to use U.S.-supplied missiles to strike inside Russian territory.

He backs a negotiated settlement that would include Ukraine to permanently cede at least the five provinces annexed by Russia.

Special Envoy Kellogg, a Deep State Agent

Trump has appointed retired Gen. Keith Kellogg as his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia.

Kellogg, co-chair of the America-First Policy Institute’s Center for American Security, outlined his approach to ending the Ukraine war in an April 2024 report. Kellogg's recommendations include:

1) Pursuing a formal cease-fire,

2) Delaying Ukraine’s NATO membership in exchange for a verifiable peace deal,

3) Tying U.S. military aid to Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate,

4) Offering limited sanctions relief to Russia for compliance, and

5) Establishing bilateral defense agreements to secure Ukraine’s long-term safety.

6) NATO to deploy 100,000 troops on the line of contact, which means officially moving NATO infrastructures 800 miles closer to Moscow. Another 150,000 to 200,000 troops would be required for rotation.

Recently, at DAVOS in January, 2025, Zelensky demanded 200,000 NATO troops on the line of contact!!

This list is similar to what Biden’s Deep State has signaled, via the US Corporate Media, as its position to keep the Ukraine pot boiling, to “weaken” Russia.

Russia has stated Kellogg’s list is wishful thinking would not solve any fundamental issues, as above listed, i.e., it is not a basis for negotiations

Russian Foreign Intelligence Assessment of a Cease Fire 

Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) warned, the West, after a negotiated deal, wants to freeze the Ukraine conflict at the line of contact, by sending 100,000 "European peacekeepers" about 800 miles closer to Moscow to enforce the negotiated deal, in a bid to essentially “occupy” Ukraine, and give Kiev a respite to re-arm for a future clash with Moscow.

As a sop to Russia, these so-called “European peacekeepers” would be drawn largely from NATO armed forces, but not be under NATO command.

Would this force be a sort of neutral, heavily-armed “militia” under the command of the the impotent UN, which is dominated by the West?
This looks like an unworkable Rube Goldberg situation.

UK PM Starmer Deliberately Tone-Deaf

Extremely unpopular, incompetent Starmer, PM of the UK, is talking with Zelenskyy in Kiev, about a 100-y alliance, and giving Ukraine $3.5 billion per year until 2030, and building armaments plants, military bases, ammunition storage, etc., in west Ukraine and the Sea of Azov.
It would be better for the UK people for Starmer to spend more time and resources within the UK.

This is a deliberate, tone-deaf, FU response to Russia’s goals, and not in sync with the US approach.

Trump has called on NATO to increase military spending to 5% of GDP

Rutte, like an echo, goes around saying NATO has to re-arm to 5% of GDP within the next 4 - 5 years, using scare-mongering tactics, such as “the Russians are coming, spend more on arms, or learn Russian”, which is off-the-charts ludicrous.
Even Stoltenberg did not spout such extremist nonsense.
Rutte and everyone else knows Russia has no such intentions. 

However, the usual Russiaphobe countries immediately chimed in, such as Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, etc.

- plus paying for closing nuclear plants, that should have been kept running to provide reliable, domestic, low-cost electricity, instead of importing unreliable, high-cost electricity from nearby grids, when winds and sunshine are insufficient.

- plus paying taxes for tens of millions of unskilled, poor, culturally different, Third World people from all over, with higher birth rates than the natives, and much higher crime rates than the natives. When migrants stop getting the various freebies, they will self deport, or create greater crime waves

- plus paying taxes for increased weapons production, budget aid, etc., to keep the Ukraine proxy war going "for as long as it takes".

- plus paying more for gas and other items, because Ukraine, likely with urging from the US/UK, shut down the transit line carrying Russian gas to west Europe.

- plus paying more for natural gas and other items, because Ukraine, likely with urging from the US/UK, bombed the pumping station of Turk-stream, the last remaining gas pipeline to Europe carrying Russian gas.

- plus paying for highly subsidized, grid disturbing, expensive, wind and solar systems, that need various expensive support systems, and produce very expensive electricity (wholesale, 15 c/kWh offshore, 18 c/kWh floating offshore, after 50% subsidies, such as grants, tax credits, 5-y write off, deduction of loan interest, government-guaranteed loans, and that work only if there is sufficient wind and sunshine.

The angry people are voting for centrist/rightist parties that better represent their interests.

The EU threatens to annul elections, if it does not like the outcomes, as was done in Rumania, etc.

Brussels may claim "interference by social sites", and annulling elections serves to protect "democracy".
