PPH - Wind industry opposes LePage bill to protect Maine and Mainers

Almost to a person, everyone testifying on behalf of wind is getting money in one way or another.

“The people that come to these regions come to these regions for the natural, pristine environment,” Stetkis said. “They’re not coming to look at 600-foot machines. They are interested in sitting around a campfire at night listening to the loons, not watching dozens or hundreds of blinking lights over the horizon.”

Behavior like Janice Cooper's has gotten us ten years of the shaft.  Contribute to Rick Snow, Ms. Cooper's opponent in the upcoming election:

LD 1810, at the very least, should come out of committee with full removal of the discriminatory expedited wind permitted areas.

A more reasonable bill would completely repeal the entire Wind Energy Act which has led to corruption at a scale the likes that the people of Maine have never seen.

EVERY one of these  "SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS"  has a Specific REASON  for  NOT backing The Governors  proposal- its CALLED MONEY ! The Wind Power developers  have  ever  since 2008  used there huge Financial  Backing to BRIBE  the Towns ,The Land owners, and all the affected organizations  that  have anything to do  with  Maines  MOUNTAINS !

THey are systematically  BRIBING  every-one that even has the potential to be a threat  to their  DEVELOPMENT/Enrichment  plans- and that includes  the MAINE LEGISLATURE as well! THey have very well paid LOBBYISTs  in Augusta and WASHINGTON,D.C.  to see to it that their DESTRUCTION  of The MOUNTAINS  in the State of MAINE Is accomplished !

Where was the question "Have you or your organization ever received support of any kind from an organization or individual that asks you to support wind power or from an organization or individual who has received support of any kind from an organization or individual who has asked them to support wind power?"

With all the money in the room opposing the very simple bill, Representative Janice Cooper asked a volunteer testifying for Friends of Maine’s Mountains where the nonprofit gets its funding. You’d think if she were so fascinated with small numbers that she would notice all the testimony quantifying how minuscule are the benefits of wind energy, too minuscule to warrant all the cost, mayhem and destruction.

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
