Here is something for the people of Maine to investigate and expose, the underworld carbon credit market going on behind wind projects. It is rarely talked or written about but wind projects generate "Verified Emissions Reduction credits (VER's) for their developers. These credits are used as non compliance get out of jail free passes for polluting industries.

Even though wind projects help to destroy protected bird populations across North America and impacts are fraudulently mitigated, these wind farms companies still are allocated a hidden bonus called carbon credits. Wind developers are allowed to sell these carbon credits to commercial and individual customers who are interested in lowering (on paper) their carbon footprint on a "voluntary" basis. These credits are worth billions and billions to polluting industries.
The world voluntary in association with these credits is very important here because nothing with this fraudulent industry should be voluntary, but nearly everything is.   I have seen what "Voluntary Regulations" means with the wind industry's mortality research, it means that over 90% of wind turbine mortality is hidden.

These carbon credits or VER's from every project should be examined because I suspect that these crazy VER credits are calculated for the benefit of the wind industry developers just as the wind industry's rigged mortality studies have been for decades.  If so then we are looking at a corporate scam on the public even much bigger than the energy non-solution called wind energy.

It is time people starting looking even closer at this highly destructive industry and the double dipping hypocrisy of wind energy because the ultimate sin truly is the destruction of this planet.

Much like the Swiss banking system is being used to hide fortunes, make payoffs, and launder money; it appears that VER's credits are an underworld method for carbon offset compliance.

I do try to talk about it because 1) it is a big part of the cost of electricity generated by wind and solar for ratepayers in Massachusetts ($65/MWh for wind and other tier 1 renewables; $400 for solar PV) so the true cost of wind is much higher than claimed - maybe based on Texas; 2) it drives wind development in Maine, NY, and maritime Canada, and I suspect Quebec in pristine, forested areas where bird kill is much more likely than on industrial ag land; 3) claims of wind power lowering NOx or SOx significantly are false as long as carbon-trading goes on like that according to National Research Council '07, and even Dora Mills got corrected by Littel (at DEP, not PUC) on that score. It's the new economy. Maybe if folks had to buy a REC to hand over when they fill the tank, the hypocrits, would be less anxious to think that wind factories are worth putting everywhere and anywhere.

Maybe if there was a carbon tarriff on imported goods reflecting the country of origin's contribution to dreaded climate change that would help.

But as long as big energy companies like Iberdrola and NextEra and Dong (coming soon for offshore) are involved, I don't see how to investigate.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
