AWEA HOLDS ANNUAL PROPAGANDA EVENT IN PORTLAND - ANGUS KING FEATURED

The American Wind Energy Association is holding its annual propaganda event in Portland and, as usual the scare tactics abound - supported of course by Angus King.  We are all aware that temperatures have risen 1.2 degrees (c) in the last 150 years - And the Atlantic Ocean has risen 8 inches.  But the truth is no one really knows why!  The permafrost is melting beneath the Arctic ice layer and the Pacific Ocean is shrinking with the shifting of tectonic plates beneath it. So why can't we just acknowledge that the real cause of climate change needs to be studied further - And we need a real plan of action - Wind energy is not the answer!  If carbon emissions are the issue - lets acknowledge the real facts.  In Maine over 50% of emissions come from automobiles and 65% of global emissions come from developing nations! I am tired of being lied to so someone can pad their wallet-especially at the expense of Maine's environment!

What a collection of liars, particularly slippery Angus. The reporter also needs to fact check, e.g., saying that turbines are only five times the size of 30' tall Bug Light in South Portland is just plain wrong and most misleading. Ditto for saying the wind is always blowing at blade height.

I see that Paul Gaynor and Tom Welch appear on the program. Avangrid is represented but we don't see their Vice Chair, the traitorous ex-Governor John Baldacci, father of Maine's special interest unconstitutional and citizen snuffing wind law.

E-gad, what a crock King and his cohorts dish out. How gullible do they think people are? Oh yeah, 500 or 600 WT's already and 100's more in the works for Maine. Guess Maine has plenty of gullible people, especially those in public office. Climate science all on a laminated 3x5 index card, guess you can't beat that for instant 'education' in the 21st century. ( And I thought I was the DGN one, dumb, gullible and naïve.)

Thanks for this - The best book I have read on this topic is High Tide on Main Street by John Englander, the former CEO of the Cousteau Society.  The world from day one has been in a constant state of climate change punctuated by certain major events out of man;s control.  The wind industry has relied on fear tactics to get legislation out in place to suit their needs.  I have spoken directly with individuals who served in the Maine Legislature in 2008 and said they were "skeptical" about the expedited wind legislation, but the constant reminder of gas prices going to $5 dollars a gallon and heating oil following the same path lead them to vote for the legislation!  We have all been duped and are still being duped!

It appears that each time the dust goes down the Temp and the CO² go up....... Maybe we need to dirty up the air with more dust to cool things off ?

I would have to say, based on scientific studies that our current increase is part of a natural cycle. Mankind was really not developed sufficiently to have caused all those spikes shown here 50,000 years ago and back. Also notice the dust concentrations that precede the temp rises, along with the fact that the temperatures seem to drop quicker than the CO².

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
