An important alert on the wind industry's Great Lakes radar studies

I was asked to give an opinion about a recent Interior Department statement regarding migratory radar studies being conducted on the Great Lakes. This information especially applies to the Lake Erie Icebreaker studies and the radar Studies conducted for the Galloo Island wind project.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            It is a fact that the wind industry with the help of the Interior Department, routinely rig their research and opinions. I have provided proof of this many times over. Lawyers also rig cases to lose.  I sent this information out below and I believe it was sent to the enemy.  In others words it will probably be avoided and never be been seen in the courts.

Evaluation of Icebreaker Wind project vendor proposals for radar-based radar monitoring of flying animals                                                                                                                            ;                                                                                                                                                                                                                Here is the information I sent out............

The USGS is a corrupt agency responsible for what I believe to be the worst wind energy related impact study ever conducted in the US.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  I wrote about this corruption here...........;

The USGS prepared this recent garbage evaluation.

"If you get into a courtroom I can take this fraudulent rubber stamped USGS evaluation, paragraph by paragraph to show the rigging and or the stupidity of what has been written."

“This evaluation relies entirely on the opinions of those with horrendous conflicts of interest and a long history of putrid non-scientific research.”

 From the USGS opinion………….

“The evaluation is narrowly defined. Documents reviewed for this opinion include

the LEEDCo RFI, all vendor responses to the RFI, vendor responses to US Fish and

Wildlife Service (USFWS) questions, USFWS suggested study characteristics, the

WEST, Inc review of RFI responses, and some LEEDCo application figures and

exhibits. The report is also informed by discussions with LEEDCo/WEST and biologists

within the USFWS. The evaluation was based solely on the ability of these systems to

provide quality data toward the goal of understanding the biology of the airspace under

review; no consideration was given to vendor cost estimates.”

“When one looks closely, this entire review explains why radar under these conditions is worthless and completely unreliable for an accurate scientific assessment of onsite conditions.  Vital data will be missed even if seasonal timing is right.  Of course, this is exactly what this industry wants. Their history of fraudulent research proves it. Use their own words against them.”

From the USGS opinion ………….

  1. Data impacts

Missing data can occur for a variety of not necessarily independent reasons

including limits to radar equipment, loss of power, malfunction of data gathering

equipment, unfavorable data gathering conditions (IV.c, IV.e), and human error. The

impact may be local; for example, most magnetron-based radars used in biological

research experience a brief period of time during transmission when the radar is

essentially deaf to its own echoes. This period is called a main bang or simply bang,

and as a result, targets very near the radar are generally undetectable. Data impacts

also occur at a seasonal scale; for example, a standard for how much data is necessary

to adequately represent seasonal vertebrate movement (≥80%) has been proposed for

this project. There is concern that excessive loss of data may render observations

related to migratory passage moot if they fail to capture the occasional yet unpredictable

large movements that almost inevitably occur with songbird migration. While

considerable effort should be made to ensure a robust operation is in place, data loss or

drop outs will likely occur.

"These radar studies will never be accurate without frequent or even daily year-round observations. Especially missing is the human observed data taken on the days that remove/exclude data determined by all these shills to be radar clutter. Human observations will also be excluded as incidental. Radar also interferes with Bat echolocation. It is easy to prove as well but the scum will not allow this to be verified with real research

Of one thing I’m certain.  DOD, Pentagon, FAA, USCG, NOAA, all know that wind turbines cause radar interference.  Doppler, marine and air traffic radars are compromised by wind turbines located nearby.  Radar screens show shadowing, masking and clutter.

I was an active participant in the Cape Wind USCG radar workshop with Raytheon.  The US Coast Southwest Sector chief couldn’t see a vessel on the radar screen between turbines videoed at Gabbard offshore wind UK project.  We saw clutter, masking and shadowing.  No vessel appeared navigating in proximity of the wind turbines.

The Coast Guard and FAA caved to political pressure from the Obama White House and advanced Cape Wind despite identified risks posed to air travelers and navigators.

Congressional Hearings were held on public safety concerns, with FAA asking, “Who’s going to tell the White House?”   Google:  The Cape Wind Autopsy on WindTaskForce for details on hearings.

How can avain counts be done using radar post-construction?  How can mortalities be counted over water and/or near wind turbines?  Assuming one can place trust in a biologist not to serve their master.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.”
