Frozen in Place - Woodstock Turbines Dead Still Today

As I travelled West on Route 2 in Dixfield just before the center of town, I looked to my left at the Woodstock wind project and low and behold not a single turbine was spinning. Proof positive of the absolute inefficiency of these abberations.

"The 28 Year Wind Industry Cover-Up"

March 14, 2012 (San Diego’s East County)--A recent study from Spain estimates bird mortality to be 6-18 million birds and bats annually from their 18,000 installed wind turbines with an installed capacity of 20,676 MW. This works out to a staggering total of 333-1000 birds and bats per turbine or 290-871 mortalities per MW for wind energy in Spain. In…

Fully pre-funded decommissioning one step closer to being tested.

With  Congress' non-renewal of the PTC yesterday,  Maine's industrial wind turbines will be even less likely to manage to survive financially. When the turbines cease to generate and sell power, they are required by their Permits to be decomissioned.  Then we will learn the validity of the fully pre-funded financing arrangements that have been made for removal of the monstrosities and restoration of the site to its original condiiton.  The permitting authorities have accepted highly…

Email Response to Rep. Mike Michaud

Here is the email response I sent to Rep. Michaud's office:

US Rep. Michaud. I know one of your staff will read this but I will take this message to the citizens of Dixfield. I received your "generic" mail response to my concerns regarding the PTC and wind turbines. In this "generic" letter it states:

"I understand the concerns some have expressed with wind energy, as it involves placing wind turbines on our pristine Maine coastlines and mountains. These turbines are…

NRCM are you listening? (Even Douglas Rooks wants natural gas)

If NRCM would just stop the unicorns they ride to work on for a moment and read the following passage from Douglas Rooks, they might ask their energy "experts" to explain themselves.

GAS IS GOOD.

Representative Michael Michaud - Supports the PTC - Response from my call regarding opposing the PTC

I am typing the full letter response here that I received from Rep. Michaud. I typed certain areas in bold:

Thank you for contacting me regarding The Production Tax Credit. Maine has unique needs that often require bi-partisan solutions, focused attention and thinking outside of the box. That is why I appreciate your taking the time to get in touch with me and why I come home to Maine nearly every weekend.

U.S. Senator Alexander blasts Wind Subsidies

The Wind Production Tax Credit: Time to End Big Wind's Loophole

We hear a lot of talk about federal subsidies for Big Oil. I would like to talk about federal subsidies for Big Wind – $14 billion between 2009 and 2013, according to the Joint Tax Committee. And what do we get for these billions in subsidies? A puny amount of unreliable electricity that arrives disproportionately at night when we don’t need it. Americans are finding out that these are not your…

New Portland Maine enacts wind ordinance----C'mon Dixfield, "Get on Board!"

The rules limit wind turbines to less than 200 feet in height and prohibit any that require lighting. Setbacks are determined based on a formula that considers turbine height, sound levels and the number of turbines.

The ordinance requires a developer to complete a shadow flicker study that examines the area within a 2-mile radius of any turbine. It prohibits turbine blades that glint in the sun.…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
