BDN Letter from Paula Kelso: I urge voters to “just say no” to the proposed changes

Just say no

Clifton votes July 1 on reconstruction by the planning board of the land use ordinance. I urge voters to “just say no” to the proposed changes.

Having worked on the land use ordinance from 2005 to 2010, I am concerned that these drastic changes are for the worse. The ordinance gives many powers and responsibilities. I question the wisdom of putting so much trust in the current board. Its proposed new ordinance “fix” is seriously…

First Wind/Enron Ad run in Business Section of Press Herald

On Tuesday, June 24, Saving Maine not only ran the two ads in the National section of the Portland Press Herald, but also ran this ad in the "Business Tuesday" section.  We who understand the wind scam know it is the bastard son of Enron.  Thank you Saving Maine for pointing it out so well to the southern Maine business community.  Expensive, taxpayer subsidized wind power should NEVER be supported by the business community unless that business has its hand in the wind industry "cookie…

Saving Maine ad campaign continues this weekend in BDN and MST

We're finishing up a very strong opening week with ads in the weekend edition of the BND and the Maine Sunday Telegram. Two hard hitting ads in each paper will be seen by tens of thousands of Mainers and tourists over this coming weekend. Something to look forward to on Sunday morning. Saving Maine web site traffic has been very strong as well - visits were up again yesterday after ads ran in the PPH. The FW/Enron ad was very poignant given the EMERA deal and Bowers denial. Please take Brad…

Saving Maine's ad campaign has expanded to the Portland Press Herald, with two ads on different pages in the National section.  The ads which started today are this one here and, two pages later, the "Saudi Arabia of Wind" ad that I posted a few days ago that had run in the "Forecaster".

The significance of this ad campaign cannot be understated.  CTFWP, in…

Not in tourism's back yard, says P.E.I. group of wind power

Dune Shores Tourism Association president Matthew Jelley told CBC News on Tuesday the province needs to be careful about where it allows wind turbines to go.

"For most visitors it's the primary reason, is viewscapes," said Jelley.

Who First Wind is, (down to the basics )

First Wind et al is comprised of a cadre of well connected subsidy seeking liars, who deceive and pervert the permitting process for their own ends.

They deserve to be removed from Maine's permitting process as contenders for any other projects in Maine.

This was a good wake up call for the industry as well. They have everything on their side except the truth, and…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/

Hannah Pingree on the Maine expedited wind law
