I took the accompanying pictures on Roxbury Pond two weeks ago. A pair of eagles have been raising their young on an island in the pond for several decades. Let us see if we understand this correctly -- Maine Audubon acknowledges that bat colonies in Maine have been decimated and this has put human health at risk. Yet after suggesting in 2011 putting restrictions on industrial wind with regard to bat endangerment, in December 2013, Maine Audubon essentially green lighted industrial wind sprawl in Maine.

The Camden Hills and the islands of Penobscot Bay are one of Maine's treasures.  Several wind warriors and I hiked up Bald Mt., from which summit there is a sweeping view of the islands of Penobscot Bay.  Even on a hazy day, the controversial wind turbines on Vinalhaven stuck out like a sore thumb!  This beautiful island has been desecrated by ugly wind turbines.
