Vermont allows for the use of HQ attributes for REC compliance

" Vermont allows for the use of HQ and NYPA attributes for REC compliance , which are not currently eligible in other states."
With Maine out of the picture of procuring RECs from the NECEC project because of it"s 100 megawatt limit, I wonder if Vermont would consider securing RECs from the project to reach it's 75% renewable standard by 2032 ?

DEP APPROVES ROXWIND

The RoxWInd small-scale wind project was approved July 26, 2019. Interested parties have until August 2 to comment.

My Comments :

STATEMENT : "The Department finds that a formal deed restriction of the meadow buffers is not necessary since any future development on the buffer areas is very unlikely due to their adjacency to the wind turbines, "

RESPONSE : This appears to admit real estate sales are very much influenced negatively by proximity to wind…

Maine Energy Laws Making Their Way To The Governor.

Current laws on the table:
LD 1494 : a 10 page bill proposing to revamp the renewable portfolio standard, based on purchasing of electricity in Maine.
Passed Committee, heading for House and Senate
LD 1711 : a very confusing 20 page bill to advance solar on the backs of ratepayers, Passed Committee, headed for House and Senate.
LD1464 : a 3 page bill proposing all fossil fuels be replaced by electricity ?  On Governor's desk. Dumbass…

new wind and solar installations are two to three times more expensive than existing generation sources.

The Institute for Energy Research and the American Coalition for Clean Coal Energy released a new study evaluating the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) from new and existing generation resources.

This innovative study takes into account several important considerations that other…

The Government's Green Energy Blueprint

THE STATES ASSESS A PER TON CARBON DIOXIDE TAX ON FOSSIL FUEL PLANTS, WHILE ISO-NE ASSESSES AN ENERGY TAX ON RATEPAYERS TO RETAIN THE SAME PLANTS.

"In Forward Capacity Auction (“FCA”) 12, Exelon sought to de-list its Mystic units and the ISO rejected the bids because the units were needed to meet local transmission security requirements. Exelon then sought to retire the Mystic units in FCA 13 and the ISO retained them pursuant to new Tariff language that permits…

Authoritarian Government in Maine

So, now the legislature will simply bypass current laws and make the PUC approve what they tell them to approve.

LD 994
Whereas, the Legislature finds that it is in the best interest of the State to approve  the December 2017 long-term contract between Maine Aqua Ventus and Central Maine Power Company so that the deep-water offshore wind energy pilot project may move  forward and generate the benefits to the State and its people previously sought by…

The New Green Deal Has Acquired Lift-off

To Manage the Grid, a Vermont Utility Hooks Up to a Hospital's Icebox

The rationing of electricity is underway .

"In practice, electric chillers would run during relatively low-cost off-peak hours (most likely at night) to freeze water to make ice. Then, when air conditioning load starts to rise on hot afternoons, the hospital’s HVAC system could be dialed back and the…

Why Are Maine's Biomass, Natural Gas and Hopeful Renewable Generators Fighting The Hydro Project ?

It seems to me that all the biomass, natural gas and hopeful renewable energy plant owners who oppose the Hydro Project because it will hurt them financially might be forgetting something.

The Hydro Project has a power purchase agreement backing it, so the other generators fear the Hydro Project will price them out of the market.
So where were these generators when 70% of Maine's wind projects entered into…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
