GMP AND VERMONT 90% RENEWABLE ENERGY PLAN BY 2050

Vermont has set a voluntary goal to have 90% RE of all primary energy by 2050, not just electrical energy, which is only 35% of all primary energy, as described in the Comprehensive Energy Plan, CEP, of 2016.

Vermont’s goal of attaining 90% of its energy from renewables by 2050 would require capital investments of at least $33.3 billion during the 2017-2050 period, or about $1 billion per year, according to Vermont Energy Action Network’s …

Massachusetts orders utilities to buy at least 16% of their electricity from "clean" energy sources in 2018

As seen in the article excerpts below, this latest state coercion from Mass was pushed by Conservation Law Foundation, CLF. Let's not forget that CLF's affiliate is CLF Ventures which develops wind-related investment funds/strategies, for example:…

PPH - New CMP bills foreshadow increased consumer involvement

When the supply can't be depended upon as it can with a source like natural gas, an alternate way to match up supply and demand is to control the demand. Enter the smart meter.

"A smart grid would allow the integration of variable energy sources like wind and solar. For example, if electricity output dropped suddenly due to a change in wind generation, the grid could dim the lights in big box stores…

NATURAL GAS IS GOOD FOR US AND NEW ENGLAND ECONOMY

US natural gas production has been steadily increasing from about 20,256 billion cubic feet in 2008 (consumption 23,277 bcf, less imports 3,021 bcf) to about 23,986 bcf in 2012 (consumption 25,502 bcf, less imports 1,516 bcf). In 2012, production was about 40% from shale, and the rest from tight gas, and other sources. The shale share is projected to grow to 43% and 60% by 2015 and 2035, respectively.

Natural gas is good for the US economy because it:

REASON - Politicians Can't Get Enough Energy Cronyism

Despite the breadth of the current political divide, it appears that there is at least one thing that all politicians can agree upon: energy sector cronyism. The only real dispute is over the preferred beneficiaries.......

A recent report published by the Center for Freedom and Prosperity, called "Russia's Ties to U.S. Environmentalist Groups," lays out how Putin cronies bundled millions for radical left-wing environmental groups determined to stop oil and natural gas development in…

Al Gore's Tentacles in Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters?

Looking at the board of directors of recently formed Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters shows that one of the board members is Peter Knight, New York, NY, a Founding Partner of Generation Investment Management which focuses on sustainable investing strategies in public and private markets. This company was founded by Internet creator and hypocritical carbon crusader, Al Gore, who is also their chairman.…

Vermont is Listed as the State With Highest "Renewable" Portfolio

Our friends at AOL business just published a list with all 50 (or is it 57) states and how they stack up as far as "renewables" are concerned. Vermont is # 1 and Maine is # 5. Interesting, however, is the fact that all the top 10 list HYDRO as the reason they are renewable winners. The ones touting wind and solar are in places where there is little running water and are much further down the list. I think we are missing a huge opportunity to take Maine back to a state where hydro powered…

Threats to marine & human life posed by offshore wind

An email blast arrived in my inbox this morning that alerted recipients to a Perfect Storm threat to marine life. Consistent with my research, the offshore wind industry off the coastline of Cape Cod appears to be taking its toll.

My response to "all" appears directly below. I have included the email from Frank H., to which I've responded.

Your points are well taken, Frank. Thank you.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
