Gardiner Parker Writes A Letter

In the following "oldie but a baddie" letter to the Press-Herald, a Gardiner Parker of Woolwich beats up on 80 year old Marjorie Mitchell whose camp on the Lincoln Lakes has been destroyed by First Wind's project built by Reed & Reed. This is a home that Ms. Mitchell and her husband built with their own two hands many years before. Tourism is our leading industry, but Gardiner Parker sees no reason not to engage in a bit of hate mongering aimed at this…

Respond to Lung Association misinformation

Is there some in CTOW who can respond to the NELA letter to set the record straight. We're up to our ears in press work here at FMM and would appreciate someone taking that on. We can't let this stuff go unchallenged. Allowing the public to think/believe that windmills in ME reduces pollution from the Midwest is extremely is a complete falsehood and needs to be called out. Selling REC to Midwest polluters is what's coming from ME wind developers - Thanks. RM

12/18/13 PRESS STATEMENT BY CITIZENS TASK FORCE ON WIND POWER

OPEN LETTER TO THE EUT COMMITTEE MEMBERS

MST: Maine’s growing wind power industry has also come to rely on a production tax credit

Sounds like First Wind is trying to downplay the potentially looking cessation of the mega-giveaway called the PTC. It also sounds as though they are positioning this as an occasional speed bump and that the "free money" always gets reinstated.

IT IS HIGH TIME WE STOP THE PTC ONCE AND FOR ALL AS WELL AS ALL OTHER GIFTS TO THESE INSIDER CORPORATIONS.

EXCERPT:

Maine’s growing wind power industry has also come to rely on a production tax credit that…

The PPH has a poll up on it's home page and we need to vote "no" before they take it down. Take time this morning and vote to stop the killing Eagles and other wildlife by the wind industry. Letter to Maine Audubon from James Lutz

Mr. Lutz had difficulty posting, so asked that we post this heart-felt letter to Maine Audubon for him.

Dear Friends;

I have long been a supporter of the Audubon Society, admiring your policies on saving our environment and our birds.  I have a camp on a Maine lake that only recently (in the last 15 years) has had several pairs of our most beautiful National Icon, The Bald…

Beckfords of Rebel Hill Farm in Clifton Score Court Victory on Wednesday.

The Business and Consumer Court (Judge Horton presiding) "grants the appeal of Peter and Julie Beckford and vacates the approval of Pisgah's industrial wind energy project." The sentence pretty much leapt off page 1 of the December 11 decision. As our favorite Red Sox announcer would say, "Had 'em all the way!"

So maybe travelers won't be seeing five 450' turbines as they pass Bangor on the interstate. Maybe life will return to normal for the many Clifton residents who have had to…

Obama to extend eagle killing exemption from 5 to 30 years for wind developers.

I'm sure it's due to the Wyoming case where Duke Energy was held criminally (convicted) liable for killing eagles at a number of their wind farms. So, the President is going to ask Congress to pass a 30 year exemption for the developers so they can kill these poor animals without any recourse. I wonder if the developers in Maine have secured their permits to kill eagles - maybe we should call and ask the Audubon Society to comment.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
