Governor of Maine Implores Legislature to Help Trim Power Prices

.....On the federal level, in May, Governor LePage testified before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Energy and Power in support of a bill to speed the permitting process and lower energy costs across our nation. The draft legislation aims to improve the permitting of interstate natural gas pipelines,…

Jon Hinck ia an environmentalist?

I'm Jon Hinck, a MoveOn and Portland City Council member. Governor Paul LePage recently said he'd resign if enough of us Mainers spoke up. In his own words: "If the people of Maine don't want me, just ask me to leave."1

Jon Hinck is an environmentalist, lawyer and politician. ... Between 2006 and 2012, Jon served in the Maine legislature as a State…

Governor of Maine Implores Legislature to Help Trim Power Prices

Honestly, nothing more need be said beyond the Headline.  The Legislature is dragging their feet and having trouble seeing that wind is not working, and is driving rates up and businesses and jobs out.  This is not just economic theory, but is economic FACT.  How can the people we elected be so obtuse?  (I love Shawshank Redemption)…

This may be good news, but somehow Emera is going to keep pressing,

The staff for The PUC has made the recommendation that Emera NOT build the new transmission line through the County.  Building it would cost every Maine average ratepayer $34.07 a year more in transmission fees and would further drive more businesses out of the state.  Emera has not given up yet, but this is a step in the right direction.  No more rubber stamps for wind power.  …

If You Don't Know Moosehead---View This Video. Save Moosehead from the Wind Power Scourge!

Moosehead Lake is simply astounding, truly a natural treasure. The iconic Mt. Kineo rises dramatically from the vast lake. The view from the top encompasses the blue water surrounded by verdant forest and the ancient Appalachian Mountains. Enjoy the vistas in this video, then envision the lake encircled with 50 story wind turbines on every available ridge. Please speak out against the destruction of this unique region that deserves national park status, not industrial wasteland…

Thanks to Arthur Quenk for this VERY infomative piece on the true cost of energy and share of subsidies.

I wish all the legislators and congresspeople would read these and believe what they say.  It is VERY revealing.

OPINION: Use "PREVIEW" before "PUBLISH"

OPINION:

I would like it if wind bloggers learn how to preview and proofread before hitting "PUBLISH POST"  multiple times on a single article.

I don't get my email on a cellphone so my anger quotient isn't as high as those who do... but there have been days I've logged in…

WOW! This guy hits every nail square on the head. Why aren't these guys running our energy policy?

Mark W. Anderson, a 35 year professor of economics at U Maine has figured out the real economics behind the "Renewable" energy policies we have been led to believe are going to save our country.  This is one of the first academics I have heard tell the real truth.  …

Will Tall Wind Turbines Attract Lightning & Increase the Probability of Forest Fires?

This recent photo of the wind turbines on Lowell Mountain in northern Vermont in a lightning storm provokes the thoughts of the dangers of forest fires as these machines are erected throughout heavily forested areas in northern New England.  We know the turbines have lightning rods, but so have the thousands of barns that have burned down after lightning struck their rods.  If not properly maintained, lightning rods are simply ornaments, not protection.  A lightning strike on a turbine not…

They are thinking that Offshore Wind might still make it in Maine.

They are thinking that Offshore Wind might still make it in Maine.  That is after all the other three that were chosen over Maine failed because they could not make electricity economically enough to get contracts from distribution companies.  The Windies just won't give up their quest to reap government money whether or not it helps the environment and how much it really hurts the economy.…

Patriot Renwewables trying to push around the citizens of Dixfield area and ignore their concerns about noise levels.

Dixfield area residents have made it clear they don't want wind turbines that make more noise at night than 35 decibels.  Patriot Renewables says it is not feasible to build turbines like that so they are pushing to get the levels raised.  DON'T DO IT DIXFIELD!!!!!  YOU WON'T BE HAPPY.  Keep the Colonel Holman Mountain Ridge pristine!…

"Killing Maine" by Mike Bond (Maine is a corrupt dirty little state owned by the scoundrel wind companies and their political shills).

Maine is as cotrrupt as it gets in the 50 states.....A great read  and not a novel at all.

"Some of America’s most corrupt politicians can be found in the windswept wilds of Maine. The Pine Tree State rates next-to-last in citizens’ trust of their legislators according to the Gallup Poll (April 4, 2014), and the Center for Public Integrity gives the state an F for corruption. Maine politicians appropriate taxpayer funds for their own companies, while…

SunEdison's Green "Home Wind" Push

"The total cost of 1-kilowatt wind turbine is around $9,000, excluding batteries. With an average wind speed of 9 mph, the estimated annual output is about 1,800 kwh. For a system large enough to provide all of your own energy, say close to 960 kwh per month for the average U.S. home, the costs can be significantly higher."…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
