Tony Buxton for Industrial Energy Consumer Group:
"...It makes this kind of proceeding into something other than a legal proceeding. And that's wrong. We realize there's a lot at stake for some people here, but…

Hello friends - The home page has a series of titles at the top where you can click and get various things - probably the most valuable is "CONTACT PUBLIC OFFICIALS". It includes telephone numbers, e-mails, mail address etc. for the Governor, US Senators and Representatives, etc., including their local offices. Many thanks to whoever prepared that list for us. CHICAGO - The wind industry is predicting massive layoffs and stalled or abandoned projects after a deal to renew a tax credit for wind production failed Thursday in Washington.
The move is expected to have major ramifications in states such as Illinois, where 13,892 megawatts of wind projects-enough to power 3.3 million homes per year-wait to be…

It's official -- The PTC was omitted from the payroll tax bill!
This was a major battle! And we won!
Citizens Task Force submitted 170 names and addresses to our email appeal over this past weekend. We were part of a national effort that yielded over 2700 signers. Our collective effort to keep the pressure on Congress influenced this process.
But the war continues. Today, Sen. Mike Bennett (D-CO) filed legislation to append a one-year extension of the PTC…

Because of the unproven notion that burning fossil fuels causes global warming, saving energy has become the cultural norm with the expectation that reducing the use of coal-fueled electricity and gasoline will help everyone. More…

This is my first ever blog post, actually more of a mass question to the group so bare with me. One subject I can't seem to find info on is how could we go about getting the Pleasant and Mattawamkeag areas listed at a higher level of scenic value? There must be a process and a list of locations somewhere. I can't imagine that every place on the list is more scenic than certain spots on either lake or from land surrounding that will be impacted. If we had the right arguement and maybe…

After calling and conferring with several road construction engineers,
I learned that to build a roadway that can carry the many tons of an industrial turbine takes quite a process. First you have to clear the area of trees and stumps etc. Next you must dig down until you have reached the “sub grade” level. To that you add up to 14 inches of 4inch crushed rock and compact it. The topping of the road is 1 to 2 inches or so of 1.5…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT
******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********
(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
