Affordibility of Electricity Crushed by RGGI.

"The East Coast’s signature climate policy is poised to spike electricity prices just as governors are desperate to lower them."

"A carbon-trading program that covers power plants across 10 mostly blue states from Maine to Maryland is undergoing a price shock. The cost for permission to burn fossil fuels hit a record high this week before cooling after market officials sought to address the issue —…

Energy Secretary Chris Wright Tours Massive Maine Battery Project

By Jon Fetherston

August 20, 2026

Wright traveled to Lincoln, where he toured the former Lincoln Paper and Tissue mill property that is being redeveloped into a sprawling technology park — including a planned energy storage facility that supporters say could fundamentally change how Maine and the broader New England power grid handle periods of extreme electricity demand.

The visit brought Wright together with…

Janet Mills, other New England governors oppose major utility merger

Maine Public | By Kevin Miller

Published August 18, 2026 at 5:23 PM EDT

Gov. Janet Mills joined officials from four other New England states in opposing a major acquisition in the electricity industry that the governors suggest could could impact rates and infrastructure improvements.

The proposed merger of Florida-based NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy, which is headquartered in Virginia, would reportedly create the world's largest regulated electric utility.…

The Red State Blue State Electricity Rate Gap is Widening

..................Blue states, on average, have much higher rates than Red states. What’s interesting is the gap between Red-state and Blue-state prices has widened over time, suggesting that the energy policies enacted by these states are driving up costs.

For example, in 2011, average all-sector electricity prices in Blue states were about 3.6 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) higher than in Red states, or 44 percent higher. By 2025, Blue state electricity prices were 6.33 cents per kWh…

Concluding Statement From ISO-NE in It's 2026 Regional Outlook Report

                                     UNCERTAINTIES !

"New England’s electric power grid is undergoing rapid change. Uncertainties related to the pace and scale of reductions in carbon emissions, growth in electricity demand, and increases in renewable resources and battery storage are just some of the variables that pose challenges now and into the future."

The Ball is Tossed to Philip Bartlett III. Will he screw Maine Electricity Customers Again?

Is ISO-NE saying NESCOE holds all the responsibility and final decision for the $2.2 billion dollar upgrade that ISO-NE solicited bids for?

"NESCOE’s request is aimed at upgrading the transmission system between northern Maine, where land-based wind generation is expected to increase, and the more populous regions of southern New England, where demand for electricity is highest. The ISO completed its…

Poor Maine, Controlled by Larger Progressive States That Control a Regional Electricity Market

All the USA electricity maps show the same thing. California and all of New England have the highest electricity prices in the nation.

ISO-NE Getting Nervous About Data Center Loads

With nothing new on the generator horizon to provide the power needs of data centers, ISO-NE is not feeling good about data center loads. Batteries are basically the only resources being offered through ISO-NE's long term generation outlook portal and noting that batteries are not new generation, in fact, batteries are an impediment to existing generation, ISO-NE had to address this rapidly developing situation and provide FERC (Federal Energy…

It's Either the End of the Green New Deal of the End of Power as We Know It.

BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) dominates the request for connections to the New England grid according to ISO-NE data sheets.

What this means is hardly very little new generation is being offered. Batteries do not generate power. They suck power from the grid and return this power at 80% efficiency back to the grid, usually at peak hour prices.…

Are There Any Politicians Explaining Why Electricity Prices Are Rising While Natural Gas Prices Fall?

4 Months in a row, electricity generating prices have gone up over last year's monthly average as natural gas prices have fallen year over year.

All we hear from our politicians and climate alarmists is how natural gas prices are driving up the cost of electricity. Straight from the horse's mouth, ISO-NE, the data is exposed. The proganda about the evils of natural gas is…

Even With Electricity Delivery Rates Going Down, Solar Payments Essentially Remain The Same

When Central Maine Power collects money to pay Net Energy Billing-Solar Project Owners, they calculate the amount based on Maine State Policies that includes delivery charges paid to project owners. None of these projects deserve getting money for delivery. They are generators using CMP's distribution system to get rich off other people's money. …

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
