Wind production tax credit should be left expired

Here’s a question for Kansas’s congressional delegation: Do you support raising gas and electricity bills in the Sunflower state by more than $750 in the next five years? That’s exactly what’s at stake with Congress’s upcoming vote to renew the wind Production Tax Credit (PTC).

This is what we here in Maine are facing also if the PTC is renewed.  We need to have this letter put into the PPH, BDN, LSJ and other papers around the State, and write and copy this letter…

OUR OPINION: Loss of Statoil stings as Scotland project advances

Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel opinion piece that is very slanted toward the Wind side of the argument saying that LePage sent StatOil packing and continues to fight for hydro from Quebec.  They still maintain that wind is priced comparable to hydro, coal, gas, etc.  How do we let these liars and fabricators keep spewing the mis-facts they do?  Offshore wind is going to be extraordinarily expensive to get up and running.…

Could There Possibly Be a Light At the Beginning Of the Tunnel?

Wind, Solar Credit Phaseout Said to Be Under Consideration for Broader Tax Deal

The vote is coming up!  I hope there will be NO bill passed with Wind and Solar attached, but if they do get in, I hope a 4 year deal will finally rid us of the menace.…

Another wasteful way to spend more taxpayer dollars and new creation of more bloodsuckers.

Schneider Electric, Vaisala Sign Global Wind Energy Forecasting Agreement

It seems as if there is free gub'ment money out there, there will be someone to find a way to collect it. And so there is a new alliance of two companies to create a way to predict wind and sell the results to the other Wind Vultures.  What ever happened to standing on a hill and holding your wet finger up.…

The European Model for RENEWABLES is finally giving in to reality. Hooray!!!!

On eve of Paris climate summit, Britain pulls the plug on renewables

While the Wind Industry in this country has looked across the pond to Europe to point out what they are doing right, Europe is finally giving up the fraud of renewable Wind and Solar to power their nations.  Britain is next.…

Something We Have Known and Preached For Years . . . .

Giving Billions to the Rich

The Tax Extenders Bill will be coming up by the end of the Legislative session in Washington.  We are talking a total of $95 BILLION over ten years to give money to industries that already are up and running.  $10.5 BILLION for Wind PTC over ten years.  Why not put this money into something useful like Cancer research or REAL problems that face us in the future.  …

Now . . . . if only we could get our delegation to follow this plan.

Lamar Alexander, 6 Senators Oppose "Wasting" Up To $9.4 Billion On Extension Of Wind Production Tax Credit

This bill is coming up.  Please write your Senators and Congressmen or call their offices to let them know hydro would be a much better, cleaner, more reliable, and cheaper way to provide the power we will need for the future.  We have the water, infrastructure and history of hydro here in Maine and should continue to pursue it.  Modern hydro…

I’m Not Dead Yet! Massive Maine Offshore Wind Energy Project Clings To Life

In spite of a lot of setbacks, and still a bunch of roadblocks in the way, the Green Bunch are still holding up hopes that a 500 MW system can be put in offshore.  I hope the PTC shoot down will put an end to all this foolishness.  Running the hookup for the offshore turbines in Maine waters to hook up to the grid will be extraordinarily expensive, and raise rates again.  That is ALL New infrastructure. …

States Join Forces In Defense Of Clean Power Plan

Maine is one of the states, cities, counties, etc that have joined the "Clean Power Plan".  Here is a quote from NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

“The EPA’s Clean Power Plan is a critical step forward in responding to the threat of climate change. The rule is firmly grounded in science and the law,” states Schneiderman. “The rule incorporates successful strategies New York and other states have used to cut climate change pollution from power plants while maintaining…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
