Senator A. King's Victory Dance

We know now that Senator A. King is aware of the detrimental natural gas situation in New England. The question is does he consider it a victory derived from his policy input during his State Governing days in addition to his private profiteering days of wind development in Maine ?

" Maine Senator Angus King discussed with van Welie( ISO-NE CEO ) the impact of constraints on the natural gas pipelines coming into New England. And van Welie noted the issues surrounding the…

NEW: Governor's bill LD 1810 would gut streamlined permitting process for most wind power projects

The bill would also significantly expand – from eight miles to 40 miles – the area around turbines that could be subject to visual impact studies. That could raise the regulatory hurdle for projects that are still within expedited permitting areas.…

The Legislative Abomination Called Expedited Wind Law Pl-661

Expedited Wind Law (Pl-661) of 2008 removed civil rights from thousands of Mainer's in the state for an ideology, and for self-serving interests. How many politicians now feed off of this scam for long term employment? Do you want a list?

It was in effect an illegal taking of process and land…

Hyper Secretive Maine Wind Backers Suddenly Concerned About Public Meetings for New Wind Commission

Look at the bids that came in for the various wind projects responding to the Mass RFP. Many were so heavily redacted that they provided almost no information as to where great swaths of Maine would be grossly transformed. Many pages were 100% black. Look at the Maine media's refusal to serve their readership with the information that former governor Baldacci, the creator of Maine's sweeping wind law, joined the board of the nation's second largest wind company - Avangrid (CMP). Or that he…

Charts: a decade of rapid growth for wind power in Maine

Here was my comment to this absolutely bogus report about wind in Maine.

Statistics! The writer has picked and chosen minuscule data from a government statistical report on energy in the State of Maine. It is possible to make any single month look good for any industry by using statistics. This term was popularized in the United States by Mark Twain (among others), who attributed it to the British Prime…

CMP Moves Forward with Renewable Energy Plans

http://mainepublic.org/post/cmp-moves-forward-renewable-energy-plans#stream/0

"...The company has already secured ownership or rights of way to the 145 mile corridor, stretching from Lewiston north through the forks and over to the border at Beattie Township. Final state and federal permits should be in hand by early 2019, he says, and construction could begin that spring."

Adam Cote: I Support Wind Power in Maine

Declared gubernatorial candidate Adam Cote discusses his energy "policy" in the Portland Press Herald this morning. In his piece he talks about how the new wind study commission "threatens to hurt a lot of good people across our state and cost us thousands of good-paying jobs".

We couldn't disagree more Mr. Cote.

Regardless of whether one supports Governor LePage or not, he's absolutely on the right side of this issue and Mr.…

Maine Governor LePage imposes moratorium on new wind energy permits

Gov. Paul LePage imposed a moratorium on new wind energy permits in much of Maine on Wednesday while establishing a commission that will meet behind closed door to study the economic impacts of wind turbines on the state’s tourism industry......The governor is also expected to unveil legislation in the coming days aimed at changing Maine’s controversial expedited permitting system for wind energy projects throughout rural Maine.…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/

Hannah Pingree on the Maine expedited wind law
