Have you heard of Demand Management?
Well, the Maine PUC and Efficiency Maine Trust (EMT) are talking about it.
Actually, EMT has conducted a Demand Management Program since 2022.
Important terms associated with "The Program" are:
1. AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure). Smart Meters being an essential part of the AMI.
2. Curtailment Service Provider (CSP); Someone who uses the AMI to control electrical devices in your home.
What is driving "The Program"?
Well, Mr. Ian Burnes of EMT had this to say about heat pumps in a recent meeting called by the PUC:
"we're very excited about the possibilities of heat pumps with thermal storage. We think that that's a strategy that will take a little bit of time to -- we don't anticipate probably going into our programs with that in the next triennial plan, but -- this triennial plan, but by the next one, we think we will. And we think that that will likely be a correct timeline given the winter peaking forecasts. But it -- I want you to trust that it's something that we are very concerned about because we clearly cannot do every single house in Maine with an uncontrolled heat pump. Like, we can't afford that. We need another strategy. So we're very focused on that."
EMPHASIS ON "uncontrolled heat pump" What could that mean?
Further along during the meeting, Mr. Burnes opined:
MR. BURNES: "The next question under demand management is the project for registering curtailment service providers. And I'm going to -- just given the time here, I'm going to move through this one a little bit more quickly. So we have a program opportunity notice, and what that says is, for vendors who meet this -- these standards, we will enter into a contract with them. So we -- for curtailment service providers who meet that standard and who we enter into a standard contract, the contract involves performance metrics and reporting, much like any other contract would be, and payment terms. These -- the program opportunity notice, and the model contract are posted on our website right now under the opportunity section, anybody who's willing to take a look at those."
So, we took a look. Sure, enough EMT is spending some of your payments made for electricity to hire a " Curtailment Service Provider (CSP)."
This is the info the CSP is expected to acquire from the smart meter:

I have three Mitsubishi heat pumps, installed for $24,000, already for 4 years
They are useless below 15 F, because they are inefficient and use a lot of electricity per hour, based on my metered measurements
For that reason, I turn on my propane system, which is 85% efficient.
It costs much less per hour, based on my measured propane consumption
A lot of misinformed people with heat pumps do not have such measurements, so they mindlessly repeat the nonsense spouted by “stakeholders” and their lackeys called politicians and Corrupt Corporate Media.
Demand control means the Utility gets paid to remotely turn off the power to your heat pumps and to allow charging of your EV only during certain hours, as determined by the Utility.
The losers are the over-regulated, over-taxed Maine folks trying to make ends meet in a near-zero, real-growth Maine economy, recently burdened with thousands of illegal aliens, who are coddled with free food, free housing, free clothing, free healthcare, etc.
No wonder they come here by the millions each year
We are so screwed by our woke, Democrat “representatives”, who trample on our interests

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
