The stalemate continues. CMP and Versant are not budging from their refusal to commit to the terms from LS Power.
Unbelievably, the PUC isn't budging from its refusal to provide Maine people transparency in this case.
The latest word from the PUC staff: Docket No. 2021-00369

"LS’s filing of the draft Staff TSA with its required amendments and any alternative transmission agreement proposed by LS is due on or before November 10, 2023. CMP and Versant are directed to file comments regarding LS’s response to the Staff TSA and any transmission agreement proposed by LS on or before November 27, 2023, after which the Commission will consider what, if any, transmission agreement it would approve for execution by LS and one or both of the T&D utilities."
"Documents and comments filed in response to this Procedural Order will be confidential."

Henry’s Law of Partial Pressures
Henry's Law is one of the gas laws. It was formulated by a British chemist, William Henry, in 1803. It states that the solubility of a gas in contact with a liquid surface, such as the ocean, is proportional to the partial pressure of the gas.
The practical consequence of Henry's Law is the maintenance of a constant ratio between the amount of CO2 in the oceans to that in the atmosphere for a given temperature. This ratio is about 50/1.
Therefore, the consumption of all the planet's reserves of coal, oil, and gas (5,000 to 10,000 Pg) will result in about 100 to 200 gigaton of C of the CO2 being added to the atmosphere, an increase of 13% to 26%, over a period of about 75 to 100 years. The remainder will be absorbed by the oceans.
