The Lies Continue.....Maine , a very politically dirty little state

After years of dealing with the wind issue, I can say with sadness that Maine is a very dirty little state, politically.

It is a shame how unctuous political elites have manipulated the legislative process as it concerns the wind scam.

Governor LePage should immediately place a halt to all further wind projects until  detailed cost/benefit analysis is undertaken of the wind industry in Maine.

In addition , an ethical "audit" should be initiated by the administration to review the process of law (or lack of it )  that has created the outrageous breaches  to constitutional  citizen rights that has occurred , as created by the fatally flawed expedited Wind Bill of 2008, Pl-661.

Let is also be known that Naomi Shalit's expose of 1/7/2015 is only the tip of the iceberg as it relates to corruption of law and process by the wind scoundrels in Maine.

Paula is right. It is sad that the Clifton officials see the court case as winners and losers when the whole town loses. The Beckfords did a great job trying to do things the right way and then to have a technicality decide the case is a bummer for lack of a better word. The lawyers need to submit things earlier and not cut it so close. It is hard when the people can afford only one lawyer and the wind bags can afford 100...paid for with our tax dollars. The corruption in Maine reminds me of the struggle to save the endangered cutthroat trout out West with the entrenched livestock industry buying up every politician they could. I hoped Maine would have better sense than to wait until the outdoors is defiled and then try to rectify the situation after the fact. Maybe the NRCM is waiting for this, job security for them.

Paula, your comments should be submitted as an LTE to all the major Maine newspapers as well.  Excellent post.

Wonder no longer why the average person struggles so hard --- the game is rigged. This is not about party, but rather right and wrong.

I Posted this elsewhere within windtaskforce.org blog a few days back. I will repost.

'While there is a LULL in the interest on Greener Energy due to the recent Oil Prices dropping to below 1972 (Gasoline) (not heating oil) price levels, it may be time to regroup and come together as one group to have an affect through our legislature. Such an attempt is being made by invitation, toprovide factual scientific proofs. The Door is open.... Now lets see who dares enter.  More info when a meeting time is set. This will be a communication with some that will sit on the EUT this 127th legislative session. If you have professional or educational knowledge on Energy, Utilities or Technologies it is a citizens chance to intervene against the Corporations and correct our laws and funding which go in their favor. If interested contact me at tuttle.nadine.herrick.d@gmail.com my wifes e-mail address, until we can get this off the ground.'

Meanwhile I have been working with newly elected Rep. Norman Higgins (R) who has been selected to sit on the EUT during the 127th. He is very interested in this topic of Wind and how to correct or prevent through Science and factual knowledge.

Was I naive growing up proud of our State of Maine, proud of Margaret Chase Smith and others? Proud of my father as a town selectman in Orland? I'd like to think we can be proud of our state and our leaders but it's been real tough sledding the last few years. I've volunteered many hours to town government here in Clifton and always felt it was appreciated until I had the audacity to question the wisdom of our town officials in backing a wind project of dubious merit. Now I am reviled in blogs and websites and Facebook and of course at the town store early morning gatherings. We've had signs vandalized on our lawn, a stake with an anonymous message from the Clifton 'Freedom Fighters' planted by the steps to our back door, our doorbell rung at 4:30am apparently to celebrate the project's Supreme Court 'victory'. The chair of our Planning Board talks of the 'winners' and the 'losers'. I think we are all losers except the wind scammers bundling up our money and laughing at us. Many otherwise good people have been drawn into defending this scheme because they want to feel that they are helping our planet or some other such worthy goal. Many Mainers who have been taken in by this well orchestrated and well funded scheme are now waking up to the reality of the harm being done to our State and our people. Let's hope it isn't too late to undo that harm. Get on Governor LePage and the Maine legislators and get this ugliness stopped dead in the water.

Thank you for writing this very hurtful update to our lives here in ME.

I would have never known or even suspected "that Maine is a very dirty little state, politically."

Big Wind has shown  a light on our political process, only helped by ME newspapers and TV stations.

There is always balance in life..as the large megaphones of public opinion shut down , smaller ones popped up. Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting is just such a one. When others tire quickly of public affairs or news of interest to the day, they keep trudging on with truth.

As large groups such as our state legislature go to the ways of money, smaller groups without money keep on working for truth. Citizen's Task Force..Long Islander ..so many..

The fact that anti wind people/groups were recently linked to money is hilarious. If say, LongIslander were paid for his time on this subject, he could do quite well. (i.e. send all the HS graduates in ME to college) So many others. Bet one and all would still be working to clean this state up! Not just wind farm corporations either.

Though we send our elected, to the Halls of Government and "most" travel there with good intent to represent us against the wrongs, either social, corporate or other injustices, how long does it take to create a corruption of their intent? The instant they vote, in our behalf, without using facts based on truths known, and vote only on the premise of "it sounds good". This is where that little crack, if unknowing, unwillingness to become informed, allows the few to influence a decision and money leaks in. The thought that "if they are willing to pay for false wording" It must be true, influences the outcome, or how to go through a longer fact finding mission to create Good laws, rules, or regulations that will stand the test of time to benefit not only we the people, but our global community. INVESTIGATION... Yes. But will they work to correct, or reverse the damages, undo the rewards already reaped by the corrupted, imprison the guilty equally as they would the citizenry, or excuse them under the guise of acting as an agent of the state?

They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
