UMaine bait-and-switch wind power scheme a disgrace

Subsidies, subterfuge and subjugation on a legendary island.

The bait-and-switch scheme that Maine Aqua Ventus, under the cover of the University of Maine, has pulled on the people of Monhegan is a disgrace.

Interesting info that you will never hear from the producers here. Supposedly the best wind in Europe for turbines is in Ireland. If you can believe their subsidy driven numbers they are still only showing a .3 capacity factor. No wonder every slimy wind developer in the world wants to put their eagle killing turbines here. We pay them about twice as much for the same energy.

Wind power in the Republic of Ireland

Ireland is the best location in Europe for wind power as it is situated on the Western edge of Europe and is exposed to high winds from the Atlantic Ocean and Irish Sea.

What has happened in Germany is that they have enough wind generated electricity to raise that % level much higher, but when they have pushed those numbers they have destabilized their grid and caused brownouts and blackouts. As a heavily industrialized country, they can not have that kind of destabilization so they have taken to selling that extra wind power to neighboring countries at greatly reduced rates just to bleed it off. They found the acceptable level for wind and solar to be about 18% before it wobbles. The whole process has turned into a huge boondoggle and has put the skids to their developing more wind. They have relegated any new energy sources to coal, which they have plenty of. These coal baseload producers certainly don't meet their environmental goals, but they do make their energy cheaper and more reliable.

Germany has over 23,000 modern turbines turbines that average more than 2 MW each. Many of them are in the North Sea yet they are only claiming about 15-18% capacity factor.                                                                                                                                                                 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_power_in_Germany

It is a crime nobody will investigate.

Jim, I think you are about as angry about this corrupt crime industry as I am. I refuse to call it a scam any more. It is a true CRIME!

They rob you when they are built and then they rob you after they start running by lying about energy production. With wind industry calculations, 1+1 = 3. The Department of Energy and EIA are claiming America's turbines are producing at a .3 "capacity factor" rate. The truth is, this only reflects the production tax rate that taxpayers must shell out to this Green Mafia. The actual rate of wind production across America is far less and taxpayers a being hosed for billions.

When compared to other countries with similar turbines, wind energy production in America is embellished by 25-45%. Germany with their 49000 MW of installed wind energy capacity only report a .15 - .18 "capacity factor" a year. Our corrupt leaders allow this new green math when calculating wind energy because it allows extra billions in profits to be funneled off to this international group of scum bags.

If our President just made this industry account for production and transmission losses from wind farms to end users, he could pay for a new wall on the Mexico/US boarder ever year.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
