Wind Advocate George Smith Follows in Angus King's Footsteps

George Smith quotes Angus King's praise of the Maine mountains, as in that land form King has trashed with his wind turbine blight for the almighty dollar:

"As Senator Angus King writes in the forward, “The vistas are so wide, the colors so subtle, the forests so deep, that the urge to see for yourself will be pretty hard to resist.” Boy, Angus got that right."

We agree Angus. In fact the vistas were so hard to resist, we bought homes there. And you defiled these priceless vistas with your usual insider game, clipping the taxpayer and stepping on the unwashed commoners we are. You forever destroyed many families' cherished little gardens of eden for what you of course know is nothing but an Enron-devised fraud. Scheming, shameless smooth operator.

Mountain defiler US Senator Angus King's latest act of hypocrisy

Angus King, the insider's insider and partner Yale University could not resist the urge to come see Record Hill and Roxbury Pond.....and destroy them.

Angus King in the Bangor Daily News 12/6/17

“This is a dangerous, perhaps even subversive, book,” wrote U.S. Senator Angus King in the book’s foreword. “It will make you unhappy with where you are now (unless you’re already in the mountains of Maine) … The vistas are so wide, the colors so subtle, the forests so deep, that the urge to see for yourself will be pretty hard to resist.”

OQUOSSOC – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) attended the World Record Snowmobile Ride for Cystic Fibrosis at Bald Mountain Camps in the Rangeley Lakes region recently. Senator King participated in a snowmobile ride and provided remarks. The snowmobile ride aims to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis and support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Northern New England Chapter.
“Today’s ride captures two important aspects of Maine life: an appreciation for our state’s unrivaled natural beauty, and an overwhelming desire to support members of our community who are facing challenges,” said Senator King.

Leaving out much of my 2012  "Anyone but Angus" rant  The best example of his hypocrisy is his support for the Pingree family's 754,000 acre conservation easement in the North Woods and Kennebago mountain areas stating"because these lands  are home to countless wildlife species and I believe they provide a kind of spiritual home to many people---this is the Maine heritage". Now his Record Hill Wind farm has ruined  Roxbury's pristine ridges. It is a giant eyesore as viewed from one of Maine most beautiful river valleys.  Such hipocracy! His Independence Wind received 102 million in federal loan guarantees after Rep. Chellie Pingree wrote to the DOE urging them to qualify the project for an innovative technology grant. Then King received his $402,00 success fee for the 22 turbine project before bribing the residents of Roxbury with subsidized electricity bills. Finally he cashed out his interest in the company by selling it to his partner  in order to pursue his successful run for the U.S. Senate. Angus King does not represent traditional Maine values of honesty and integrity and he certainly doesn't give a hoot for the environment. His business and political careers are greased with taxpayer and electric rate payer subsidies. For the life of me I don't understand why John and Cynthia Orcutt would invite this "crony capitalist" to write the foreword for their book when their intention is to "raise awareness of what's here and how beautiful it is---to encourage people to come up here with the idea  to enjoy it but also be stewards of it". Stewards should watch out because Chain of Ponds, Skinner and  Alder stream townships may be destroyed by Nextera. with their plans for 130 turbines.

Angus King is the personification of Regulatory Capture and hypocrisy.

“Now, thanks to Big Environment and their powerful friends like U.S. Sen. Angus King, you see massive turbine blades placed atop huge concrete foundations that ruin the mountainous landscape. They’re just plain ugly, noisy, dangerous to birds and taint what makes Maine unique – unbridled wilderness...”

How many Maine homes are those Roxbury turbines powering, anyhow?  And at what cost?  I wonder if there are any photos of turbine-studded mountains in that dangerous, subversive book?

My comment to the BDN:  Angus King's endorsement of this book could not be more hypocritical. After despoiling the vistas at Roxbury Pond, a jewel of the western mountains, with his Record Hill Wind Project, he attempted to erect scores of turbines in the Bigelow Range near Kingfield, where the authors of this book reside. His assault on the mountains unleashed the 800 lb gorilla that now threatens to turn the entire state into a wind turbine plantation.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
