Today citizens held a stand out by those who live with noise impacts in the shadow of the Plymouth wind turbines in Buzzards Bay.
For neighbors of the Plymouth turbines who have been complaining to town and state officials about the effects of the four 500-foot tall turbines, things have been looking optimistic over recent Massachusetts Superior Court rulings over nuisance in Falmouth.
The Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals ruled that the turbines in their town were a nuisance.
Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Moriarty on June 20, 2017, agreed with the Falmouth Zoning Board and shut down both wind turbines.
The Town of Falmouth spent seven years in court with up to thirteen ongoing lawsuits at one time.
The taxpayers of Falmouth spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on litigation and likewise the neighbors matched the spending.
The Falmouth neighbors describe the noise as torture from lack of sleep affecting their health.
The Falmouth wind turbines are no longer operational.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker visited the Wareham Cranberry Harvest Celebration but avoided the Mass Energy Consumers Alliance presentation of the Future Generation Wind Turbine & Cranberry Bog Tour only a few miles away.
