It's not very hard to start seeing the connections between Enron Wind (in Maine) and Kenetech and then Governor Angus King who may have been protecting Kenetech - in the 1990's. Their whole master plan has been long in the making.

As part the approval, Kenetech must release data immediately on possible bird impacts, include in its final plan information on power contracts with buyers of electricity, submit details of soil studies and erosion control plans, and show how it might minimise road construction at the sute. Commissioners, however, rejected a proposal to have Kenetech build the project in phases -- a scenario the wind company vehemently opposed -- and elicited a promise that Kenetech award at least 80 to 90% of the construction jobs on the wind farm to locals. The state has a high jobless rate.
The project is broadly supported by environmental groups. Kenetech has agreed too to set aside $300,000 to buy land to be permanently protected against development, and has pledged $150,000 for state research on golden eagles. "We believe that on balance, this project will have a positive impact on both the people and the environment of Maine," four environmental leaders wrote in a newspaper editorial in July.
Political interference
Charges of political interference stem in part from ties between the state's leading politician and local Kenetech representative, Chris Herter. Governor Angus King and Herter have been friends for 20 years and were once business partners in a hydro project. Kenetech's Maine attorney also worked for the governor last year. State planning director Evan Richert argued for zoning changes as a paid consultant to Kenetech before he was appointed by King.
But the most eyebrow raising turn of events took place in June when King's conservation commissioner, Ronald Lovaglio, replaced LURC staffers who gave Kenetech's project a negative review. They had pointed out that the potential impact on the fragile mountainous soils and endangered birds were serious project flaws. Following the staff replacements, another LURC employee resigned, protesting against heavy-handed tactics.

Malignancy Multiplying on Maine's Mountains is Rooted in ENRON
The spawn of ENRON, the disgraced poster child for accounting fraud and corporate corruption, is alive and well in the form of the U.S. wind industry. The mammoth landscape despoiling wind turbines and wind transmission sprouting up throughout Maine, a state cherished for its natural beauty, are a direct descendant of Enron.

These days, it's not only our mountains at risk, but rather any spot in the state where the wind developers believe they can get a permit to set up their subsidy harvesting business. Their quarry is now increasingly becoming the weakest link-- any area where they feel there will be little resistance. Most of us have seen the "wind resource" map of Maine. But these days the map the developers look at is the wind resistance map of Maine.

'President of Italian Wind Energy Association arrested for fraud' By Guy Dinmore in Financial Times, November 12, 2009 “Gone with the wind”, mounted by the finance ministry’s anti-fraud police, started in 2007 and began by blocking public subsidies worth €9.4m ($14m, £8.4m) granted by the ministry for economic development. Last year police confiscated seven wind farms with 185 turbines in Sicily linked to IVPC. Anti-Mafia prosecutors in Sicily have launched a parallel investigation. The Financial Times was told in April that a large number of wind farms had been built with public subsidies but had never functioned. Police said yesterday they had sent requests for documentation to five foreign companies – two in the Netherlands and three in Spain – that were linked to IVPC. Other companies in Ireland and the UK, said to be Italian affiliates of IVPC, have been asked by Italian authorities to provide information. Police also said they were carrying out checks on 12 companies in Italy, including nine with company names that are variations of IP Maestrale and which share the same street name and number as IVPC in Avellino, near Naples.

Of course the plan was long in the making. These scumbags worked for years behind the scenes to clear the hurdles facing them. The primary hurdles in the 1990's were environmental dealing with the slaughter of rare species.
If you look at the expansion of this industry there was a very slow period of growth leading up to 1997. This was the year they finally got all their protections from the Interior Department. The eagle repository in Denver was established to handle the flood of eagle carcasses and other rare species slaughtered by the expansion of wind energy. Also on Jan 1 1997 new laws went on the books and FWS agents were silenced with strict gag orders they had never had before. From this date forward they were now facing up to three years in prison if they stepped out of line.
Most of the narcissists in DC that helped pass these laws probably had not a clue to what was happening, but those inside the industry that had been picking up thousands of eagle carcasses from around their turbines knew exactly what they were doing. Many of them were the Enron boys.
Many words to describe these people come to mind, environmental terrorists, of course "scumbags" is fitting, thieves because of the money stolen from taxpayers, "sociopaths" because they could give a shit as long as the profits come in, "liars" for obvious reasons including over 30 years of fraudulent research, "traitors" because they are undermining our county's laws and democratic foundation, and of course the term "green Nazis" fits because of never ending propaganda fed to the public from the government agencies, conservation groups, and the media.
Make no mistake, these people are an enemy of the people.
