F/V Mistress—Coast Guard Semper Paratus?

The Coast Guard saying is "Semper Paratus," Always Ready.  It was chosen to signify the service's constant state of readiness for rescue operations, law enforcement, and maritime security.
The U.S. Coast Guard ended its search-and-rescue mission for the commercial fishing vessel F/V Mistress on January 1, 2019, after approximately 37 minutes, citing severe weather conditions and radar interference near the Block Island Wind Farm.
.
In July and August 2026, private sonar and diver teams organized by the nonprofit Green Oceans located the wreckage of the F/V Mistress during a targeted dive. They have asked the U.S. Coast Guard and federal authorities to reopen the investigation into the 2019 sinking of the fishing vessel F/V Mistress.
.
The U.S. Coast Guard is the primary authority responsible for reopening marine casualty investigations if significant new evidence or information comes to light. Aka the F/V Mistress, 50 feet from Block Island wind turbine #1.
.
It's been over two months since the request, and the Coast Guard appears their new saying should be "Never Ready."
.
Why is the government ignoring the F/V Mistress investigation?
The core of the "hiding" and "cover-up" allegations stems from the wreck's location right next to a Block Island, Rhode Island, wind turbine #1. Advocacy groups and critics suggest state and federal agencies hesitate to reopen the case because doing so could prove politically embarrassing or financially damaging to the offshore wind industry.
.
If a full federal investigation determines that the wind farm interfered with radar, navigation, or subsequent rescue operations, it could force the industry to implement expensive safety setbacks (such as 2-nautical-mile buffer zones), complicating future offshore wind projects.
.
The most likely reason for the failure to locate the F/V Mistress is that the fishing and maritime industries advocated for a 2-nautical-mile separation between offshore wind turbines, citing safety and radar clutter concerns, while federal and state agencies—along with the U.S. Coast Guard—ultimately approved and adopted a 1-nautical-mile  spacing "trade-off."
.
Politicians saved the offshore wind companies money on submarine cables while ignoring safety.
Interagency hesitation is raising questions among the fishing community and maritime interests regarding what officials knew and when.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
