Democrats Suggest Renewing Subsidy for Renewables in Exchange for Ending Oil Export Ban

I really hope leadership does not fall for this clearly lopsided bill that will raise prices for all energy.  Of course Angus is leading the way.  He doesn't have any irons in the fire does he?

Paula - That is how corporations work, they have nothing but time on their side, unless we place ordinances, or laws in their way. Even then they seem to manage to tweak the laws, or bribe to have ordinances removed. Then their lobbyists influence DEP Rule making or Committees. They just wait us out, under regulatory law. Rights Based Ordinances are community law based on our Second Amendment rights, and again re-enforced by the Tenth Amendment of both State and Federal Constitutions. If we do not get there first with an ordinance that can not be dismissed at a stroke of a pen, in regulatory law, they will soon have a law prohibiting any local protections. However they would first have to do away with the 2nd Amendment, which would also remove their own rights.

LLC's are many varieties, and consist of many owners. Some states regulate them harder than others, but in essence they can be very fluid as to ownership. Much like major Shareholders, vs common Stock shareholders. You never know who owns an LLC. A lot of the Renewable energy LLC's have a  potential of being owned by Big Fossil Fuel Producers and Consumers. Angus King probably owns more variety of LLC's on both Renewables and fossil fuels, though only admits to the Greener these days.

We need to get articles like the FW/Terraform problems to legislators quicker. Maybe some of you did. Sterling Burnett wrote a great article back in Feb. which I would have emailed to our legislators who mistakenly think wind power is more than a scam. Any updates on the sale? Did the FW  worms squirm into another sale of industrial junk? What do the lawmakers think of wind power now?

LInk at the bottom of that story:

No wonder it's hard to get a handle on all of this wind industry goings on. First Wind in Hawaii, Terra Forma. Same players all over the globe. It was more than we private citizens could do to keep up with the amateurs developing here in Clifton, let alone tackle the organized and financed big guns. There are a bazillion battlefields in this global war. The defenders are fragmented, but the offenders are unified. Can this be won by local squirmishes? The industry has a well-developed strategy, which our president has fully signed on to. What's an effective counter-strategy?

Who wants/needs carbon credits most? This is not new - BP was in the game with ads. NextTerror aka Florida Light and Power used the saved money from PTC or more likely ITC from wind factories around the country to build or upgrade a natural gas fired electric generation facility in Florida that maybe was not a great idea for the Everglades.

On state level, the state most heavily invested in fossil oil and gas, the biggest coal importer - Texas.

Who really makes out? the financiers who promote big deals between big data and big box and the big wind developers. And when it is to 'emerging countries', the financiers get a third, some other class gets a third and only one third goes to the project. Most of us don't really consider China, India, So. korea, Brazil to be 'emerging' but that is where the money goes. The only thing we can do to not be complicit is to buy local and refuse corporations that move their jobs there. Good luck doing so, especially as more PV panel, wind turbine, car manufacturing goes to those countries.

I still think our best shot is to focus on the science of noise as a pollutant and that kind of thing.

WoW.... The Oil Sector now heavily investing in Wind Energy & other renewables, wins both ways.

The word "solution" is a very important one to remember  here because the wind industry is marketing a worthless non-solution for climate changes and our energy needs.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 The bottom line with wind energy is this………The wind industry is being operated by people of such poor character, that without accountability, they just can’t help themselves from stealing our tax dollars.

That would be a solution, though I'm not sure it would fly.

We need to suggest ending subsidies including restitution from embellished industry production numbers in return for reduced prison terms.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
