Donna, she really pleads being a local yokel. It is simply lazy journalism on her part. It is so much easier to report on a house fire or a car wreak, so the puff piece made from a few observances at a ceremony and re-write of a First Wind press release is all that we can expect. I think every CTFWP member from Aroostook County and Northern Penobscot County should email her their perspective on this scourge, because she has her head up First Wind's ass as far as I can see.

Penny- you are so right on that at least a gutsy journalist should have the you know what to ask these kind of questions..when this reporter said she had never heard of "brad's group" I though geez they have no interest in finding knowledgable citizens on the other side..are they that manipulated, naive and misinformed? it is possible but unbelievable..

Could a reporter ask a wind developer what signing their gag order entails? What we need here is a gutsy investigative journalist, and someone who has signed a gag order to speak under the condition of remaining anonymous...

the company in houlton was the bakery on main street- it closed and reopened as a bakery I think again but no longer with the health food part and yes he is not the one doing it..he took the money and ran unlike powers who took the money and joined them - by leasing land for turbines, I spoke with the man and of course he had a gag order but he had more integrity than powers in my book any day-

Just my guess here. The wind industry sics their cabal of lawyers on the "squealer" and makes their life a living hell with court orders and withholds payments and demands returns of any payments previously made. For making their company look bad and harming their reputation the squealer might also be liable for lost business and be forced to pay reparations to the company. The wonders a company can do with too many lawyers and a bank account flush with tax dollars!

My final message to Ms. Lynds:
Jen, I have nothing further to say on this particular thread, but I hope you may have some insight to the frustrations of the citizens who are not only fighting a big company that has many resources and pandering politicians behind them, but have also done diligence in knowing the real truth about this scam. We love this state and its natural and scenic resources and we don't wish to see it destroyed for a feckless source of power than we don't need in Maine. There are a multiplicity of issues regarding utility scale wind power and the media in Maine are NOT DOING their job in getting analytical and informative coverage to the people. Citizens give freely of their precious spare time and raise money in $10 & $20 donations, unlike wind companies that have plenty of money to spend on PR efforts (like free barbeques and branded give-away items, and lobbyists working the politicians and bureaucrats every day), so we rely on a free media supposedly dedicated to the truth to help carry our story. I hope when you write about wind power in Aroostook, you will always feel free to contact me. My work phone number is 207-575-8553. Bill Trotter called me on that number today. BTW, I suggested the story on the UMPI turbines because this year, not 2015, is the 5th anniversary of the dedication of the UMPI turbine and the fitful start of its production. http://bangordailynews.com/2009/05/14/news/wind-turbine-dedicated-i... I hope you don't find a way to sugar-coat the fact that we now have 5 years of data that show 12% capacity factor. Please contact H R of Houlton, a retiree who has kept meticulous records of the UMPI turbine and solar panel performance. Please read the attached document; you might learn something that First Wind hasn't told you.(I attached the "20 Facts", which is a tab on our home page. If you need a simple one sheet handout to give a wind power advocate, this is a great piece with which to start. I originated it as a handout for Friends of Lincoln Lakes. So, First Wind and BDN both refer to this event as a groundbreaking celebration.Does this mean that First Wind failed to qualify for the Federal Tax Incentives because they didn't start construction prior to 12/31/13?
If so, FW's Gaynor can't complain about it because he is on the record as saying the incentives are no longer needed and only create prolonged dependency on handouts.
