Readers have heard of Teslas spontaneously exploding while on the road, while charging, while parked in a private garage, while parked in a commercial garage, while parked at a street curb, over the years (read: here

Last Friday, a video surfaced online of a battery-powered bus of public transport operator RATP,  bursting into flames within seconds in Paris, France.

AFP announced all of its 149 electric buses, at about $1 million each, including charging systems, manufactured by Bollore SA, have been taken off the road.

"The bus driver immediately evacuated all the passengers. Nobody was hurt," RATP said.
The city's fire department said the blaze took 30 firefighters to extinguish. 

 

This is not the first time one of RATP buses caught fire.
On April 4, 2022, in central Paris, another battery bus had a similar explosion.

In both incidents, IN ONE MONTH, there were no injuries.

The video is shocking, because it shows only a few seconds for the lithium batteries to ignite, giving occupants inside the bus just a few seconds to exit. 

Battery-powered buses will need to be redesigned with many doors, so passenger/children can exit the bus in a few seconds.

First responders, i.e., firemen, EMTs, etc., in many parts of the world aren't adequately prepared, nor trained, to handle lithium battery fires amid the proliferation of EVs on streets and highways. 

It takes 20+ tons of water to extinguish a Tesla vehicle battery fire.

A combustion engine needs, on average, 3 tons of water to extinguish.

It is misleading to call these “Lithium-Ion” batteries. They should really be called “Lithium-Hexafluorophosphate” batteries — to draw attention to the highly toxic HF gas and acid exposure when these batteries ignite or explode. 

.

The electrolyte in lithium-ion batteries is typically lithium hexafluorophosphate. This is the source of the fluorine in the 1) hydrogen fluoride gas (vapor or mist or smoke) and 2) hydrofluoric acid. Both are ejected during thermal runaway or fire or explosion.

It is well-known, tele-marketers purchase lists of names of people who buy certain goods, such as certain types of clothes, and sell the lists to other companies who sell similar clothes, who then send THEIR catalogs to YOUR house.

 

Law-enforcement and intelligence agencies geo-track record mobile phone conversations and mobile phone movements, to nab criminals and terrorists.

 

There are companies that collect geo-tracking data and sell the data.

Telemarketers, or anybody, can purchase the data of each person's mobile phone.

 

The data provides detailed information regarding where YOUR phone, or tens of thousands of phones, travelled over a chosen period

of time, and how long the phones stayed at each location.

 

A video was prepared, with input from a private geo-tracking company, which used the geo-tracking data of at least 2000 MULES in five swing states, during the 2020 Election

People, called MULES, were used to pick up PREPARED ballots at ballot preparation centers, run by “non-profits”, and deliver the ballots (mostly late at night) to various DROP BOXES, around the clock.

 

The drop boxes had video cameras, as required by law, far enough away, so no one could make out much details.

Zuckerberg, et al., CEO of Facebook, donated about $400 million from his own wealth to finance the installation of drop boxes all over the US.

It was found, after a lot of data filtering analysis:

 

On a typical day, a MULE visits multiple ballot preparation centers to pick up prepared ballots, and delivers them to many drop boxes, in small batches, about 3 to 10 ballots at a time, to avoid stuffing suspicions.

Sometimes Mules take a picture of the drop box and/or ballots, to prove the ballots were delivered, and to get paid up to $20/ballot.

 

The filtering criteria of a MULE “delivery trip” are to:

 

1) Visit at least 10 drop boxes.

2) Deposit at least 5 ballots/drop box.

 

Many mules visit many more drop boxes, but were instructed not to deposit more than 10 ballots, to avoid stuffing suspicions.

 

The data analysts used 4 MILLION minutes of videos at drop boxes, in all US states.

It turns out some drop boxes had no video cameras, or had video cameras, but they were turned off.

 

The table shows, in Michigan, there were 500 MULES, who each visited an average of 50 drop boxes, and deposited an average of 5 ballots per drop box, as recorded on videos at drop boxes. All five state were credited to Biden, but the drop box totals exceeded Biden’s margin, i.e., all five states should have been credited to Trump, which would have re-elected him.

 

Remember, all five states stopped the counting at about 10 pm on Election Night, because Trump was just too far ahead. Something had to be done.

Vermont has a Comprehensive Energy Plan, CEP. The capital cost for implementing the CEP would be in excess of $1.0 billion/y for at least 33 years, according to the Energy Action Network annual report. See URLs.

Spending on government energy programs, including Efficiency Vermont, has averaged about $210 million/y from 2000 to 2015, but Vermont CO2 emissions increased 18% from1990 to 2015. 

CADMUS SURVEY OF HOUSES WITH ASHPs

 

CADMUS, an energy consultant hired by the Vermont Department of Public Service in 2017, performed a survey of 77 ASHPs at 65 sites in Vermont.

 

It uses a standard HVAC computer program that takes the hourly temperature history of a heating season (obtained from weather data), and allocates the frequency and duration of temperatures to two-degree temperature slots, also called “bins”. See horizontal line of figure 14.

The heat to a site is calculated for each two-degree bin, say 34F - 36F.

The total heat to a site is obtained by adding the heats for all bins.

 

72.4% of Space Heat from Traditional Systems and 27.6% from ASHPs 

 

CADMUS calculated:

 

- Space heat to all sites was 65 sites x 92 million Btu/site = 5,980 million Btu from all fuels. See URL, page 22

- Heat from ASHPs was 77 ASHPs x 21.4 million Btu/ASHP = 1,648 million Btu. See URL, page 21

- Traditional systems provided 5980 – 1648 = 4,332 million Btu, or 4332/5980 = 72.4% of the total space heat.

- ASHPs provided only 100 - 72.4 = 27.6% of the total space heat

No wonder the energy cost savings were an average of about $200/ASHP per year, instead of the $1200/y to $1800/y bandied about by GMP, VT-DPS, VPIRG, etc. After the CADMUS report, those estimates disappeared from booster websites. See URLs.

Capital and Annual Operating Costs Result in an Overall Annual Loss

 

CADMUS/VT-DPS concluded, on average, an owner invested $4500 in an ASHP (less with subsidies), but had average energy cost savings of about $200/y; some had more savings than others.

 

Amortizing $4500/ASHP at 5%/y for 15 years (the factory warrantee is for 10 years), the annual payments would be $427.03/y.

In addition, there would be annual costs for scheduled and unscheduled service calls ($100+/call, plus parts), plus annual costs for maintenance contracts ($100+/contract, plus parts).

 

Those costs would be in addition to amortizing the cost of the existing traditional heating system investment over 15 years, plus the annual cost of service and maintenance.

 

Independent energy systems engineers predicted installing ASHPs in energy-hog houses would result in an annual loss to owners, if overall costs of having two heating systems were accounted for, some years ago, but ASHP boosters were busy chasing CEP goals, collecting subsidies, creating jobs and making profits.

I think almost all folks at Glasgow were more interested in the show-boating of setting goals, and getting Russia, China, India, etc., to sign up, instead of looking at what would be physically required regarding materials, infrastructures to process them, turn them into battery packs, and distribute them to EV assembly plants, and build charging stations, and build additional power plants.

Look at what Tesla had to do to achieve a production rate of one million EVs per year at end 2021.

It took15 years from design to that production, and at the same time also build additional plants, contract for materials, to build at a rate of about two million EVs per year, by the middle 2023, etc.

Almost all EV manufacturers, except Chinese, are, on average, about 5 years behind Tesla. For them, just getting materials, at a reasonable cost, will be a major challenge 

People have no idea how the abundance of fossil fuels have made life so easy for billions of us these past 100+ years.

They think, we just abolish FFs, and just “transition” to the other materials, and all will be fine forever. They perceive it to be as easy and joyful, as with the transition to FFs. 

A few years down the road of their costly, naive idiocy will give rise to major social/political blowups, as we saw in France. Folks will gravitate to the right side (more sane side) of the spectrum

Regarding exposure to radiation, airliner flight crews are most exposed of all occupations, per WHO.

If an airline stewardess smokes, cooks with natural gas, eats airline junk food, breathes foul air in the cabin, and is pregnant, she has the highest chance of a miscarriage, or having baby with congenital disorders, and other genetic issues, of all occupations.

Not enough data has been collected regarding battery buses, but a major design change needs to be many more exits than the two on the right side of the bus, so endangering passengers can get out of the bus in seconds.
