Are these "sustainability" minded millennials even aware of the unsustainability of destructive wind power?

Sustainably minded Maine millennials juggle multiple jobs to make a living

“Everyone is overqualified,” she added. “We all do it for the mission.”

The mission is to make a better, more sustainable world and there are many ways to do that. For Gilbreath, it’s through food policy, for others it might be promoting clean energy.........

I have come to the conclusion that the Mainers in Maine are a lost cause.  All they seem to do is heap their scorn and abuse on each other and everyone else. Based on that, you might as well just let the exploiters from New York City show up and treat the place like a colonial farm, there to be sucked dry and the inhabitants put towork as servants.  Figure 5,000 industrial windmills and a srecked economy, hey so what.  I look at the comment boards on those local papers such as Bangor Daily News and realize that the people that live there are useless and worthless.  Why bother, with that crowd?

Too many millennials are brain dead from their Ipads.

Sorry but this article about yet another bunch of snowflakes in Maine just makes me blow a gasket.
Re: the 27 year old in the article.

my god.... morons..... "white privilege"? these millennial's are so brainwashed, such flipping idiots, that it is IMPOSSIBLE to take them seriously---and they take themselves way too seriously.

"We want meaningful lives...and good jobs...except (essentially) only a "white person with white privilege" can afford (via parents helping) to take these jobs"   Seriously? Get a grip on reality ditzo.
I perform at least three different types of work (jobs if you will) and have for almost 50 years. Welcome to Maine darlin'. And I am glad to be able to support--somewhat-- my son's efforts to get a college education in Maine, and that sure as hell doesn't make me,or him,"white privileged" -- It is just "you do what you can, work hard, and help your kids out when you can...." We used to call it a work ethic, and moral decency.
You morons think this is a privilege based on a racist ideology? You are moral losers, nothing more.
The GD Caretaker economy that all the real estate moguls and real estate taxes created.Your precious tourists who come to sail in Maine, who you hope will "conserve it" ? They're gonna buy as much of it as they can afford, and the resulting demand for your two acres (let alone the back 40) will push your town to tax you right the hell out of the state sweetie.
Non-Profits? Sustainability? Take a good hard look at Maine non-profits. The most financially stable/solvent ones are funded by mega wealthy donors, most of them from outside of Maine.
Look at the "sustainable" green energy projects that your oh-so-precious ideology has foisted on Maine and New England...yet only makes our electric rates go up and up,and kills businesses in Maine, and ruins the landscape.
No,I don't have any sympathy for your ilk.None.

Millennials today have a very Pollyanna view of life that has been instilled by the idea that everything will be given to them. Whether it is parents with enough money to support them and their frivolous ideas of what is worthwhile or the government which has become so welfareistic that it gives out free iPhones, free food, free rent, free healthcare, free everything that comes at the expense of those of us that actually trained ourselves to be useful citizens of a World that needs science and technology, training that only comes with an education in something other than some of the ridiculous arts studies that they are putting themselves deeply in debt for.

At some point in time the s*** is going to hit the fan. Reality HAS to set in. Mama and Papa will be gone and the money will run out. Then they become wards of the state, reliant on the rest of us who become their Moms and Dads. It has already happened in most of the big cities of this nation, where four or five generations now have lived entirely on welfare. They have become a strong voice in our politics and along with those who have invaded our government to bring government employees to the ridiculous level they are, will soon be MORE than those earning a living on the outside. We on the OUTSIDE pay for all that. When it gets to be over 50/50, we are done.

Unfortunately, our educational system is based on the delivery of facts to be memorized.  Tests then determine degree to which the facts have been memorized.  Critical thinking is dangerous.  It leads to questioning.  Even questioning the status quo, the 'facts' ... very dangerous!

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
