Anticipated Offshore Wind Noise Effect On Massachusetts Residential Communities

Wind turbines generate two types of noise:
A. Regulatory measured in decibels and
B. Human Annoyance called Infra Sound
.
Inaudible infrasound disturbs the health of humans and all organisms. Low-frequency noise aka infrasound is audible at many decibels but can occur below the human hearing level.
.
The first effect of exposure to infrasound is cognitive impairment. Long-term exposure to low-frequency noise can affect memory, concentration, and decision-making. It causes a fight-or-flight mental fog, making it hard to focus.
.
Massachusetts produced studies for the public to comment on before for land-based wind turbines. Residential homeowners had to look for what was omitted from studies not what was in them.
.
The Massachusetts offshore wind turbines are located tens of miles offshore. They are ten times the size and hundreds of them. Where is the noise study? Why after the land-based wind debacle over noise issues no noise study?

Nantucket onshore noise from offshore wind
.
The Nantucket Vineyard Wind project now has 62 GE Vernova 13-megawatt wind turbines.
.
The Nantucket SouthCoast Wind project proposes an additional 147 turbines 1066 feet tall.

Westport onshore noise from offshore wind
.
Video Marker 8 minutes  30 seconds —Studies have determined that infrasound from a single 5MW wind turbine may be detectable from 20kms (12.4 miles) away. Revolution Wind uses 11MW turbines, which are as close as 15 miles from Horseneck; there will be 65 of them. We know how much further sound waves travel over water than land. BOEM has leased 1,400 square miles for offshore wind development—with plans for 1000-1300 11MW/13MW turbines— off RI and the MA South Coast and islands. The very real likelihood that coastal communities will be seriously affected by infrasound from offshore wind turbines is never spoken of, never acknowledged. A Maine acoustician has determined that the Revolution Wind project infrasound will reach inland here in Westport for at least 10 miles.

Infrasound as a weapon :
.
Industrial wind turbine infrasound is not the best weapon, but it is a weapon. This German video documents the harmful effects of d the infrasound produced by industrial-sized wind turbines. The dangers of infrasound have been known since the 1980s when the U.S. military heavily invested in infrasound (below 20 Hz) as a weapon. It looked like it had great promise, according to Col. John B. Alexander who was involved in weaponizing it.. The military gave up on infrasound as its effects on people were too random: some potential targets were seriously debilitated; others not so much. This video presents various studies by acoustical engineers and other scientists showing infrasound's affect on the ear, the heart, the brain and other organs.

The Dogger Bank incident is similar to a blade problem in the year at a turbine owned by GE Vernova in the United States. These recurrent problems indicate that manufacturers and engineers must enhance the installation procedure and working standards to achieve turbine durability.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/

Sign up today and lend your voice and presence to the steadily rising tide that will soon sweep the scourge of useless and wretched turbines from our beloved Maine countryside. For many of us, our little pieces of paradise have been hard won. Did the carpetbaggers think they could simply steal them from us?

We have the facts on our side. We have the truth on our side. All we need now is YOU.
