Feds plans to use your tax dollars to build former First Wind its shipping system at no cost to them
I guess it's not enough to receive the PTC (Production Tax Credit), REC's and other government welfare for an essentially useless wind project. Just to make it all the more profitable for the wind developers, almost half a billion dollars of federal backing (your tax dollars) will be thrown in by the federal government to build the transmission. That's the same federal government that wonders why the national debt is forecast to reach $50 trillion in less than ten years. YOU will pay the interest on that. YOU will be paying the massive increases for this absurdly produced electricity. Watch your electric bills, watch your tax bills, watch your wallet.
Meanwhile the wind developers hoping to build the Aroostook County wind project that would never happen without this hated transmission line, King Pine, will be benefiting from your losses. The wind company, Longroad Energy, is run by the same cast of characters that led Maine plunderer, First Wind which became Sun Edison.
When will Maine people wake up and demand a stop to this destructive and useless energy, financed by an already financially strapped public?

Central Maine Power Co. will bid to build a long-stalled northern Maine electric transmission line, helped with $425 million in federal backing, the utility and U.S. Department of Energy announced Thursday.
The 111-mile transmission line would bring 1,200 megawatts generated by wind turbines in northern Maine to New England’s grid.
Avangrid Inc., CMP’s Connecticut-based parent company that will receive the Department of Energy funding, said it represents one of the largest ever federal spending programs on energy in Maine. The funding will be in the form of a “capacity contract,” a commitment to buy part of a transmission line’s energy capacity. It demonstrates a project’s commercial viability and reduces risk for ratepayers by reducing financial exposure, CMP said.
“Construction of this high-voltage line will also relieve transmission constraints that have stalled the development of renewable resources in northern Maine for years,” Avangrid said.
At the outset, the transmission line, at a cost of $1 billion, was touted for its goal of bringing clean energy generated by a proposed wind farm that would be the largest onshore wind project east of the Mississippi River. Rated at 1,000 megawatts and expected to produce nearly 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours a year, the project was said to generate enough electricity to power 450,000 typical homes. That’s more than half of Maine’s entire housing inventory.

Avangrid intends to participate in the transmission line RFP process and will include the awarded $425 million capacity contract as part of the company’s proposal.
This $425 million award represents one of the largest federal investments in energy development in Maine’s history and will help support clean energy transition goals by facilitating transmission line development to unlock high-quality renewable energy for the region. Construction of this high-voltage line will also relieve transmission constraints that have stalled the development of renewable resources in Northern Maine for years. Avangrid also plans to invest more than $15 million for Disadvantaged Communities in Maine. Other benefits include job creation, increased property taxes for local communities, rural broadband investments, and a stronger power grid.

Capacity contracts of this nature are meant to boost investment and catalyze the nationwide development of transmission lines across the country. The initiative is funded by President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, passed in 2021.
The Maine PUC will likely announce winning bids in 2025.

Is this "capacity contract" available to Avangrid exclusively and before selection of the winning bidder by the PUC? I am not aware of the PUC having selected anyone yet.

The highly subsidized evil doing subsidy suckers are planning to connect 1000 MW of wind turbines to this line
The maximum output during strong winds will be 850 MW, and about 50 MW during wind lulls which may last 3 to 7 days. Remember, all these wind turbines will need at least 30 MW of power for self use, 24/7/365.
The ANNUAL average power output will be about 300 MW, which means a production of 1000 x 8766 x 0.3 MWh

This project is not in the public interest, will require permits from PUC, DEP, FERC, ISO-NE, the Maine Legislature and the Army Corp of Engineers.
This gives more reason to vote for Trump so he can put an end to this stupid project.
