U.S. Seeks to Approve Dozens of Offshore Wind Projects in Years to Come

WASHINGTON/LOS ANGELES, May 25 (Reuters) – The Biden administration will seek to approve more than a dozen offshore wind projects in the next four years and open the Pacific Ocean off California to such development as it seeks to bolster the nascent U.S. industry, officials said on Tuesday.

The effort is part of the administration’s broader plan to fight climate…

The US Will Need A Lot of Land to Reach Zero Carbon

As a follow up to my previous post about Biden going nuclear, I have attached an article from Bloomberg reporting on a Princeton University study evaluating the landmass required to support a variety of energy sources to get to zero carbon. Wind has a big problem.

Biden goes nuclear to save the planet. What's Mills to do??

The Biden administration is quietly admitting it can't achieve zero-emissions without a national fleet of firm, reliable, thermal power plants. Are they talking nuclear power? To quote from the article I've posted below, it sounds like Joe has seen the light.

  1. "there's a deepening understanding within the administration that it needs nuclear to meet its zero-emission goals. (Source:…

The truth behind Texas's renwewable energy failure.

As the climate cabal (think John Kerry and AOC) scurries to distort the truth the disaster during Texas's polar vortex event, rationals minds are exposing the consequences of renewable dependeance and the kabuki theater of the scam known as the Green New Deal.

Wind and solar subsidies extended in C-19 stimulus bill

There you have it, the wind and solar crowd got an extension on subsidies in the latest $900MM stimulus bill and the Maine delegation was all in. This could unleash a storm of new development in Maine. I encourage everyone who cares about this beautiful state to call all of our esteemed representatives in DC and express your outrage. If you haven't seen the obscene spending in this bill, here it is:

AC/DC trans corridor

Over the past two weeks in two separate public meetings (The Forks and Jackman), CMP stated they would connect wind project to an AC line to accommodate wind development in western Maine/Moosehead Region. They would run a separate AC line in the currently proposed DC trans corridor. The results to the region would be devastating. We must stop the hydro line. If it gets denied, the likelihood of an AC line being approved is seriously diminished.

LUPC denies NextEra petition to expand EWA

Yesterday, the Land Use Planning Commission voted unanimously to deny NextEra's request to expand the expedited wind area by 25000 acres to accommodate their proposed industrial wind farms (Moose and Alder Stream Wind) in western Somerset and Franklin counties. The denial is a huge setback for NextEra's bid for a 20 year renewable energy contract with MA as part of their MA Clean Energy RFP. NextEra will have to go through the legislature to get the EWA expansion. Given the solid opposition…

Mass Releases RFP for 9.5 Million Megawatts of Renewables.

Massachusetts has released it's latest RFP for renewables  for a 2022 delivery. This will drive a devastating acceleration of wind farm and transmission corridor development - MCPC and MEPCO. Somrset Wind, LLC for sale in SunEdison fire sale

As part of the liquidation of assets going on in the SunEdsion bankruptcy, the court has moved to liquidate a portion of the company's North American Utilities, LLC wind and solar assets. The only asset for sale in Maine is the proposed Somerset Wind project - a 26 turbine/85.8MW project to be sited on Misery Ridge just west of Moosehead Lake. Based on court documents, NRG is the stalking horse buyer. Somerset Wind is a bidder in the ISO/NE renewable RFP for southern New England with NextEra…

More BS from FMM/CPO'N

The recent claim in the Maine Biz story by FMM/CP O'Neil that they assisted 36 UT's in the EPA removal process is blatantly untrue. Of the 40 files on the LUPC site, 14 petitions were filed by citizens in the Moosehead region - O'Neil had nothing to do with these petitions. I also expect that he had nothing to do with Lexington, Molunkus, and Carroll.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
